My wife and I stayed overnight at Spacapanova Hisa as a stop on a 7-day cycling tour, and we had dinner and breakfast there. This was a memorably great stay and I highly recommend it. It’s a small operation where the owner seems to do everything: host, sommelier, waiter, food runner, busboy, and presumably cooking a lot of the food. It’s a labor of love, and his passion really comes through. The food was really excellent. We dined at several Michelin star restaurants on the trip, and the food and experience at Spacanova was equally special while being far less pretentious (and half the price). Everything is homemade, down to the beer, wine, balsamic vinegar, bread, and cured meats. So impressive! Meanwhile, our hotel room was clean, comfortable, and air conditioned, and the breakfast was spectacular. Our cycling itinerary didn’t allow us to spend much time in the town, so I can’t speak for the surroundings. But as a stop on a tour, this was such a delightful surprise. Just make sure to reserve dinner, as they only have a few tables.
