Stayed for one night while visiting Kotzebue. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Room was nicely furnished. There’s also a very nice observation lounge with views over the sound. We ate in the hotel restaurant which was pretty busy. Food was freshly cooked to order and portion sizes were generous, to the point of being too big. We had the reindeer stew which was excellent, and the Cajun chicken pasta which needed less chicken and more sauce but was still good. Breakfast is a selection of (chargeable) grab and go items from the little store in the lobby - but the breakfast burritos were tasty! Hotel is not cheap but for a rural community it is a very nice place to stay. Postcards are $4 each. The hotel is a 5-minute drive from the airport and the taxi fare was $14 each way (for two of us).

Such a nice, clean, comfortable hotel! There is not much to do in this town and it is pretty run down, but the hotel is kept up nicely. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly! The wifi was pretty bad but what can you expect when you are so remote!? The restaurant on site was convenient as there are few in town but service was slow and the staff seemed hesitant to communicate. But the food was delicious!

We stayed here for 3 nights in our quest to visit the 2 national parks in the arctic circle. Very pleasantly surprised to find such a nice location in such an out of the way place. Our room was modern and very clean and comfortable. The restaurant also had an extensive selection and the food was quite tasty with a fairly reasonable cost considering the area. The servers were all courteous and friendly as were the front desk personnel, especially George at the front desk, who answered all our questions and gave us some tips. And Keith quickly took care of a lighting issue in the room. A special thank you to Jeanette, the manager, who went out of her way to make sure we got to the airport on time. Also appreciated her filling out an Arctic Circle Certificate for us.

Very nice accommodations. Staff was friendly and helpful. Next to the shore and about a half mile from the airport. I was pleasantly surprised at the accommodations. A nice restaurant down stairs. Blocks from the national park visitor center, which was closed on the weekend.

We were completely impressed with the Nullagvik hotel. It’s reasonably new and served as an excellent base for our flight seeing adventures in northern Alaska. The staff was phenomenal from the front desk to the restaurant staff to the housekeeping staff. All were friendly, polite and informative.

Very comfortable and clean hotel. No issues at all - bed was comfortable, lots of hot water, good tv reception. Hotel staff was friendly and provided lots of tourist information. Restaurant was good, short staffed. Our room overlooked the Bearing Sea. Would definitely go back and recommend it to others in the area.

We spent three nights at the Nullagvik Hotel while looking to visit our son who is a school teacher in Noorvik. The motel far exceeded our expectations for a motel in a remote location above the Arctic Circle. We originally planned two nights with a stay in Noorvik in between. But weather and bush flights made it three nights. The hotel made arrangements for us to keep the. same room to store luggage for a day trip to the village. The room was as nice as anything found in a big city. Clean, comfortable bed, quiet, and spacious. The view of the Arctic Ocean was incredible. They have Wi-Fi. But with our TMobile carrier, it was spotty. I understand that to be the same for most of Alaska, if you don’t have GCI. The staff was friendly, incredibly professional and very helpful with taxi arrangements. And other questions from someone over 3000 miles from home and enjoying a new experience. Note that not all taxi companies take cards. The hotel placed us accordingly. I believe they are the only hotel in town. Although there is a couple b&b’s. The Nullagvik was outstanding. And their restaurant was equally a pleasant surprise.

By nature of where the Nullagvik is, there won't be many reviews, but we wanted to just share a bit about our two nights up there just last week. We suspect it may be the only hotel in town, at least the locals we met referred to it that way, but it had everything we needed to make our time in Kotzebue go just great. We were able to walk there from the airstrip, and it was very convenient to walk from there just about anywhere else we wanted to go to in town, although we did see a lot of folks taking taxis around. Our room was fantastic with lots of space to spread out, and a view of the ocean, right above the walking path. Yes, there is challenging cell service, although one of us had ATT and there is a giant dish and tower right next to the hotel. We ate two dinners and a lunch in the downstairs restaurant, and the food was tasty, but it is important to acknowledge the challenges inherent in getting food products into town. Some things either won't be available, will run out, or may not be fresh off the vine, but we were pleased with all our choices. Also, we really appreciated all the measures the staff were taking to keep the hotel tidy, the common areas clean, and the various walkways, stairs and entrances clean and open. If you are coming to Kotzebue, you are likely either coming for work, to hunt/fish or to see the National Parks, and not coming to have a spa-like vacation. We thought the Nullagvik was just what we needed and were grateful to have it as our home during our visit!
