The environment is quiet, there are several small restaurants around
Quite a nice hotel in a quiet place (generally Krefeld is a quiet place... where there is absolutely... nothing), small, pleasant&clean rooms, with a small bathroom and a safe , very good breakfasts, ... and nothing except the price, which is a bit too much for a hotel in such a place and with such a standard :(

I and my colleagues stayed at Krefelder Hof in September 2024 for a conference. This is a beautiful property with old-world charm. I arrived past midnight, but thanks to their bar, the hotel was lively. The check-in was smooth, and the staff was very welcoming. I found the hotel to be nicely decorated. The room was well-lit and nicely furnished. They provide a coffee tray in the room. The bathroom was very spacious and well-supplied. The water pressure was excellent. However, a half-glass partition for the shower does just half the job. I couldn't enjoy the breakfast as I had an early start all 3 days, but we did have dinner once at their restaurant La Brasserie. I'd say they need to work on their vegetarian offerings. The hotel is centrally located hence, it is easy to go to any part of the city. It is quite close to the tram stop. Overall I had a very comfortable stay and would love to return someday.

This hotel is an absolute gem and I hope it will be preserved as it is forever. My late husband and I were frequent visitors and never ever disappointed. It is set in a lovely park, close to the town centre, and a short drive away from the exhibition centre of Düsseldorf. It was opened around 1967 and has never lost its charm. The entrance lobby alone is spectacular, large and airy, and tastefully decorated with items of the town’s history. Krefeld was famous the world over for silk and velvet manufacture and the display of ties, for instance, is just beautiful. The restaurant has an old fashioned, yet elegant, French, feel to it. The outdoor terrace overlooks some wonderful old trees. The food is excellent, often adapted to reflect the season, eg German asparagus around May, June and their famous goose dishes in November. There are also beautiful, large celebration and conference rooms. Breakfasts are sumptuous. There is a separate bar, again with an old fashioned vibe, yet perfectly modern at the same time, with a small garden area at the back. The bedrooms are very comfortable and tastefully furnished. Last but not least, the staff cannot do enough for you. It really feels like home away from home when I now stay there on my own.

Overall my stay was good. It's an ageing hotel in a small town and can't be compared with modern chains. My room was good, breakfast wasa good and staff were very friendly. One bugbear was that the minibar had to be pre-booked for stocking up like extras on a budget airline. However, my biggest gripe is that I had a nasty fall on a pathway leading to the hotel over extremely uneven and unsafe pavement. I injured myself and damaged my watch and a flower arranegmeent I had just bought across the road. I was asked to email them with any damages, which I did and nobody has cared to reply. Based on that I would not recommend or return.

1. STAR: The reception was not a warm welcome. It was more a formal reception of sign here and credit card or bankcard, and your room is probably not ready. A phone call, it is ready. This is your room number, etc. No nice emphatic welcome what so ever, but more a strict procedure. Maybe we encountered the wrong employee that would be more at the right place in the back office. Parking 11 euro (Life hack: at the street, 80 meters away, it is free of charge). Sauna: 10 euro 😡, should be free for a hotel. You start wondering how mich the toilets will costs. Bad managerial decision. 2. STAR The comfort room is a small room with an older flatscreen tv or better, a thick flatscreen. The airco seems never be succes to cool it down. It’s a warm 21,5 degrees and it never goes to the desired 19. Pillows are very thin. Matras somewhat hard. Two separate beds. Woha! Didn’t expect that! 3. STARS: Total impression inside, old but enough maintained. 4 STAR: Kitchen, was above expectations. Very good lady chef de cuisine and a very friendly waiter who works here for 42 years. 5 STAR: They will tear it down and build a new hotel in the next few years. Average: 3 STARS. Yours, Captain Review Maverick!

Stayed at the hotel pre Covid. Visiting friends in Krefeld, ideal location on tram line to the centre of town and main station. Unfortunately due to staffing issues since Covid, bar not open in the evenings., otherwise an excellent stay.
