Big M Hotel

Traveling to Kuala Lumpur, we stayed at The Big M Hotel for 4 consecutive nights. We booked a standard twin room without a window. Upon check-in, we had to pay a RM 50 cash deposit at the front desk. The front desk staff were friendly and spoke basic Chinese. We stayed in room 214. It was a bit small with basic facilities. The free WiFi signal was stable, and the air conditioning worked well. They provided disposable toothbrushes, toothpaste, toilet paper, and 3-in-1 shower gel. The shower water pressure was strong. There was a clothesline and hangers in the room. Slippers needed to be brought by ourselves. Staff cleaned the room daily and replenished toothpaste, toothbrushes, toilet paper, instant coffee, and two bottles of mineral water. There's a water dispenser on the 7th-floor common lounge area, and an outdoor terrace with views. When we booked on Ctrip, the pictures showed a bathroom with a wet and dry separation, but our actual room had a small bathroom without this feature. There was a safe in the room, but it wasn't working properly, possibly due to a dead battery or rusted wires. Since we are budget backpackers and didn't have any valuables, it wasn't a major issue for us. The hotel's location is super convenient! We took a bus from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to KL Sentral, which cost RM 16 per person. From KL Sentral, we took the LRT (red KJ line) for two stops to KJ13 Masjid Jamek station, costing RM 1.6 per person. After taking the escalator all the way up to the exit, the hotel was right outside the left exit. Using the LRT and train, it's very easy to get to KLCC Twin Towers, Batu Caves, and TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan) for buses to Malacca. Next to the hotel is McDonald's, and across the street, there's Ruixing Coffee (Luckin Coffee), KFC, and a 7-Eleven convenience store. Masjid Jamek and Merdeka Square are also directly across the road. Within 1 km, you can walk to Central Market, Kwai Chai Hong, Petaling Street, the beautiful RexKL Book Xcess bookstore, and more. There are also many affordable and delicious tea houses nearby. Overall, this is a budget-friendly hotel with a convenient location and great value for money. Highly recommended for travelers to Kuala Lumpur on a budget.

I arrived at BIG M Hotel at 1:23 PM, a bit early, and the front desk informed me that check-in wasn't available until 2 PM. So, I took a stroll around Chinatown and came back later. The room had both a Chinese-style three-pin outlet and a British-style outlet, which was very convenient. The window offered a view of the Kuala Lumpur Tower and even a glimpse of the Catholic Church.
