Japanese style, good if you want to have immersive exp. The location has pro and con. Easy to go 八阪神社, but it’s a bit dark at night. Very few foreigner guests

I made a mistake before booking the room and didn't know the location. After I got the room, I looked out the window and realized that the hotel was below the cemetery... As a traditional Chinese Chaoshan person, I was definitely not comfortable. The waiter also seemed to be quite anti-Chinese. His face changed immediately after each question I asked. Then, because the room I booked didn't include breakfast, I was not allowed to buy breakfast after a long communication. However, the reservation clearly stated that breakfast could be purchased. I don't think this would happen in a tasteful hotel... Although it was not pleasant, the details of the hotel were still OK to be honest.

The bath attached to the room was also wonderful and very nice. I recommend taking a taxi from Kawaramachi, Kyoto. I'd like to go again.

I stayed one night without meals, but next time I'd like to stay two nights. Everyone was friendly and the service was good. There was only one bottle of mineral water in the room, and I asked for an extra one, but it wasn't mineral water, which was disappointing. Maybe I should have paid extra for mineral water. Other than that, everything was great. My wife was also happy♪

It was a really nice inn. The location is perfect for strolling around Kiyomizu-dera Temple! It was surrounded by nature, the open-air baths in the rooms were amazing, the wine in the lounge was delicious, the sweets were delicious, and above all, the smiles and kindness of the staff were wonderful. I'll come again.

My husband and I had a wonderful time there. We cannot wait to go back. First of all, the pictures on their website don’t do justice. The room was MUCH bigger and better in person. Semi-open bath tub was great. Food was excellent (only breakfast included in our plan). Beds were very comfortable after sleeping on futon on the floor in another hotel in Kyoto. One advice to the management- the taxi drivers are not familiar with this hotel Yuraku location, most likely because it’s very new. Please market the hotel to the taxi companies. Every time I rode a taxi (excerpt one occasion), I had to navigate the cabs.

We stayed 3 nights at DoubleB room on 3rd floor. Room: Much larger than we thought. Luggage area with dressers, separate toilet with sink by the entry room, huge king size bed and love sofa next to the bed. Bathroom is very luxurious and tons of amenities (face mask, facial toner, hair band, cotton but NO shower cap-beware). Separate large tub with natural stone was deep and large enough for 2 ppl, separate handheld shower and rain shower with treetop views from win and large. almost feel like outdoor bath. Room was unexpectedly nice and large. Breakfast: Amazing kaiseki breakfast and this was unexpected with all fresh cooked rice, fish, eggs, and nabe. Lounge area: Free coffee/teas throughout the day and free wine/whiskey from 5-7pm. Very good tea selections (Hojicha, Green tea, Camomille tea, Orange tea, Earl Grey) and several kind of juice available, which was unexpected too. Staff: Check in was at the lounge individually while you are sitting in the lounge area. Hotel lady gave us wet towels and welcome tea and sweets, very nice touch. Staff was very personable and kind, very personable. Location: Steps to Kodaiji and it's around the corner of Nene road which leads to Kiyomizu. Steps to Yasaka Jinjya and Shijo, amazing location. I got the great rates (I reserved 3 months before hotel opened in 12/2022) : I will be afraid rates will go much higher when I return. This hotel should be ranked top #1 in the area soon. This location is amazing for people who is coming with car (has parking), or people who'd enjoy serene walking in the mountain side of Kyoto. It'll takes about 13 min to Shijo/Gion area where buses and subway station are located. It contains some hills so I would not recommended for people who is not good with walking. We loved this hotel and walked around this beautiful Gion/Kiyomizu area, hoping to come back soon!

We had afternoon tea starting at 12:00. It was delivered in a three-tiered box, and I enjoyed the look of it. The contents change depending on the season. In February, the pink apple-shaped yogurt, apple compote, snowman macarons, and tuna senmaizuke rolls were delicious. Because of the free drinks, I had to take off my shoes and go up to the tatami room every time I went to the toilet, which was a hassle. The salted caramel sauce on the scones was too salty. I was asked to go and look at the gelato before deciding to choose 2 out of 8 types of gelato, but since I couldn't see what was inside, I thought it would be better to just look at the menu. The matcha latte, which has a reputation for being delicious, was only available hot. The iced matcha latte had too much milk. For the first hour, we were able to relax and enjoy the quiet time as the place was privately reserved, but after 1:00 p.m., guests started arriving one after another and leaving their luggage, making it so noisy that I couldn't get comfortable.
