Close to Kyoto station. Just opposite Tofukuji. I checked-in so early and went back to the room late. The staff introduced the ryokan facilities to me once I arrived and handed in the room key in advance. If you come back late you need to go through the other door beside the room key. Clear guidance. Breakfast can be booked in advance with Japanese and Western options.

It was such a pleasant stay, short 7 mins walk from Kyoto station ( Exit central ) and plenty of good food around. The washer and dryer is a plus point too. We will definitely visit again!

Not bad for the price. For a hotel in Japan, there is someone who speaks English well. The room is small and narrow, but it is okay for the price. The distance is good because Kyoto Station is just 10 minutes away.

There is a small coffee table next to it, with a few biscuits and some sencha bags. There are Western and Japanese breakfast options, both of which are delicious. The disadvantage is that the transportation is not very convenient and it is a little far from the subway station. The sound insulation of the room is not good. You can hear the snoring from next door late at night. There is only one washing machine and one dryer each, and you have to queue to use it. The hotel is not far from Kyoto Station. It is a Japanese-style hotel. When checking in, the lady at the front desk will give a comprehensive introduction to the use and precautions of various things, and there is no problem in English. There is a rental service at the front desk. The convenience store did not give me chopsticks and spoons, so I borrowed them from the front desk. The room is quite large, and there is a TV to watch. The air conditioner is not very effective at heating, but the quilt is thick enough. Sencha bags and senbei are given for you to eat.

The room is very clean and has enough space. It also has a TV, a refrigerator, and a nice bathroom. The only problem was that the day before check-in, I discovered that I had missed booking a room for the next day, so I immediately rebooked it, which meant that I would have to stay for 4 nights in total including my rebooked reservation. This was explained when we arrived at the hotel. However, on the second day after our stay, we were suddenly notified that we needed to change rooms... Checking the order (in Chinese and English) on the platform showed that we had booked the exact same room type. Unfortunately, the front desk's English was not very good. We couldn’t fully understand the more complex questions in Japanese. It ended up being replaced, which caused trouble with packing. And we made multiple reservations for the same room type (and presented the order in Chinese and English). The front desk was obviously aware of the problem (he said what was going on), but still emphasized many times that we had booked different room types, leading to a change. Moreover, the room after the change is more spacious than the one on the first day, and the bathroom space is also larger. It is difficult not to think about whether it was a mistake on the first day or whether there was no suitable room before making another arrangement? If there is a situation like booking separately, please confirm the room type with the hotel. Other than that, the room was nice.

In the case of ryokan, if you don't find it well, you end up in a very old place, but this one had the atmosphere of a modern ryokan. I felt like I had both the tranquility and sophistication of Kyoto. The staff and the boss were so friendly that I wanted to give them gifts. ㅜㅜ However, since it is not near a commercial area, it may take a while to get to a convenience store or restaurant. However, if you want to be quiet and feel the atmosphere of Kyoto, this would be a good place!

The Matsuba family has convenient transportation. It is in the alley opposite Higashi Honganji Temple. It is only a three- to four-minute walk from the temple's villa "Shosei-en" and about a ten-minute walk from Kyoto Train Station. The nearby alleys can be said to be "hotel alleys". To go to the downtown area of ​​Shijo Kawaramachi, you have to walk to the main road outside Shosei-en Garden and take a bus. Matsuba is a Japanese-style tatami hotel with five or six floors. It has an elevator, an independent bathroom (the toilet is warm), and WiFi. It is quite clean and the space is about eight tatami mats, not too big or too small. However, the heating seems not strong enough and needs to be confirmed. The reception staff are all young people in their thirties who work in shifts and are quite friendly.

Comfortable, clean and great service

Lovely, simple, traditional-style Japanese house in a perfect location. Exceeded expectations - everything was old fashioned style, but in great condition, and the inn was a walkable to all the great sites in north-east central Kyoto. Would definitely stay here again.

We were impressed by the interior design of the ryokan for sure. The staff there are nice and helpful. However, our sleep was rudely disrupted because the kids staying on the rooms above us were running around and it sounded very loud in our rooms. I guess this is a structural issue, perhaps ask for a room in the higher level or hope you have less noisy neighbours.

For my first visite in Japan , it was a very Good expérience of the Japanese way of life. Well situated and all the persons are vers gentle. Room are clean . Thanks a lot for this stay which was great !! If possible I will be vers happy to come back here for an another trip.
