The service was great, the room was nice and surprisingly spacious. It's just that the front desk's English is really poor, hahahaha, but they are super enthusiastic and can communicate with a translator, which is very cute!

For the size of a hotel in Japan, this one is amazing! It's not small and clean, and the breakfast is delicious. You can also have breakfast at the bar downstairs!

Beautiful Boutique hotel perfectly located in Kyoto. Only 12 rooms in the hotel so you get personalized service the entire stay.
Plenty of English speakers so communication was never a problem.

We could not fault this small boutique hotel a short train journey from Kyoto central. The size, decore and layout of the room were wonderful. The staff were helpful, attentive and courteous. Easily the best hotel we experienced during our trip to Japan. Don't forget to visit the fantastic bakery next door.

What a great experience. We spent three nights at Villa Sanjo in late April. The hotel is very stylish and comfortable (not always do properties pull off both so well). It's a very small place but top-notch service. They helped me find 5* restaurants on short notice and were generally just lovely people. Next door is one of the best cafe/bakeries I've ever experience...anywhere. The thing that's also nice is that Villa Sanjo is a bit away from the hectic, touristy parts of Kyoto. So much more relaxing. Would we go back? In a heartbeat.
