Super hotel! We even extended our stay and stayed in this hotel. I recommend

The service was great, the room was nice and surprisingly spacious. It's just that the front desk's English is really poor, hahahaha, but they are super enthusiastic and can communicate with a translator, which is very cute!

For the size of a hotel in Japan, this one is amazing! It's not small and clean, and the breakfast is delicious. You can also have breakfast at the bar downstairs! Not cost-effective, very small

A true gem in midst of the city. Warmly welcomed. Fantastic, spacious room, exceptionally designed and very quiet ae well as clean. Helpful and friendly staff. The only “downside”: the bed (mattress) was too hard for our liking and custom. But then again, so far not one softer bed in any Japanese Hotel. We still managed to sleep ok.

We could not fault this small boutique hotel a short train journey from Kyoto central. The size, decore and layout of the room were wonderful. The staff were helpful, attentive and courteous. Easily the best hotel we experienced during our trip to Japan. Don't forget to visit the fantastic bakery next door.

What a great experience. We spent three nights at Villa Sanjo in late April. The hotel is very stylish and comfortable (not always do properties pull off both so well). It's a very small place but top-notch service. They helped me find 5* restaurants on short notice and were generally just lovely people. Next door is one of the best cafe/bakeries I've ever experience...anywhere. The thing that's also nice is that Villa Sanjo is a bit away from the hectic, touristy parts of Kyoto. So much more relaxing. Would we go back? In a heartbeat.

Amazing boutique hotel. Changed my hotel at the last minute to stay here and so glad I did. Not only was it convenient for train access, restaurants, and shopping, but the hotel itself was impeccable. The desk staff was incredible, polite, and eager to help in every sense. It really felt like a special place. The owner and staff clearly takes pride in their work and it shows.

Wonderful boutique style small hotel. Owner clearly appreciates art and fine whisky amongst other drinks. Everyone very friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast can be served in your room and that was great. Good choice and very convenient. Room was excellent - comfortable & quiet.

This hotel was above & beyond our expectations. The staff was so warm, inviting and made us feel so special. There breakfast was outstanding. The customer service was top notch. The beds were very comfy and so were the comforters. Cant wait to stay here again. They made us feel like family.

My husband and I have just returned after 4 nights in this beautiful boutique hotel. My my what a find. I booked after reading other glowing reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed in any respect The room was very big and the bathroom huge. Enormous tub with bath salts provided. Nothing wasn’t provided. The bed is huge and so comfortable. The staff were so good and went above and beyond helping us. When our Uber cab was shown to be seen on the app a street away a staff member ran off to find it. We ate breakfast here one morning.. really great. So many options for lunch or dinner nearby. This hotel is a gem. You will not be disappointed if you stay here but be aware there are only 12 rooms.

This boutique hotel is fabulous. Super quiet large room with really nice bathroom. Lots of counter space. Huge shower and tub. Great water pressure and hot water. Sitting area and desk area/ makeup area. The central AC works!! The breakfast was a lot of food and included coffee, juice, milk, various breads, eggs or quiche, fresh fruit, salad, and yogurt. There is an electric kettle with various teas and coffee. There’s also a huge Starbucks very close to the hotel. There is a bar downstairs with a huge selection. All staff were excellent! One of our favorite meals was at a restaurant 1/2 block away. You can watch the chef cook right in front of you! 1 short block to subway station!

It's not just your normal hotel, this is something different. It's like going to visit your mom. Perfect cozy and beyond comfortable beds, perfect mattress, perfect bath (amazing bathtub) perfect toilet (japanese, of course) and lots of space. Perfect air conditioning adjusting and not noisy at all. You can open/close the curtains with a remote, that's awesome. You also don't need to worry about having the room's key with you, you leave it there, and they give it to you when you go back without having to tell them which room it is. Super friendly staff. Well situated, in a calmed area, and close to the subway. And just a super short walk from lots of restaurants and well equipped convenience stores opened 24h. I would go back there always.

Booked this hotel after researching on Tripadvisor. I was very happy with my stay. The hotel was in a great location, close to the subway station, plenty of shops, restaurants and convenience stores all within walking distance. It was easy to get to all of the sites we wanted to see. Staff were very polite, friendly and incredibly nice. The rooms are absolutely huge and especially when compared to Japanese rooms in general and are well equiped, the bed was maybe the biggest I have ever slept on. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and they left chocolates, rose petals and a swan towel which was very appreciated. If I had one negative it was that the room keys are physical keys and if the hotel is reading this I recommend changing to electronic cards. It didn't dampen our stay at all but just thought I would mention it. Overall I definitely recommend the hotel and would stay again if I was visiting Kyoto.
