Hotel Monday Kyoto Marutamachi

The location is super convenient! I mostly used Exit 5 of the Karasuma Line, took the elevator straight up, crossed the street, and the hotel was right there. It's especially great for getting to Shijo Kawaramachi, Nishiki Market, or Shinkyogoku Shopping Street, as there are buses available. I'd highly recommend buying the 1100 JPY subway and bus day pass – it's really practical. The room size was perfectly adequate too; I booked a twin room and it had a sofa which was handy for putting things on. I'd definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Kyoto.

I booked a family room for 2 adults and 1 child, but when I checked in, they asked for an additional 3,500 JPY, saying there's an extra charge for children. That's absolutely ridiculous.

Excellent, offers fantastic value for money. Highly recommend! The front desk staff also spoke great English.

The location is excellent – the hotel is just across the street from Subway Exit 5. This exit is particularly traveler-friendly as it's the only one with a direct elevator to street level. The hotel breakfast was quite good, allowing for a leisurely Japanese meal. While the room was a bit small, it perfectly met our basic accommodation needs.

The hotel is conveniently located near Marutamachi subway station, with exits 2 and 4 being the closest. However, if you need an elevator, you'll have to use exit 5, which is across the street. The room was surprisingly spacious and could comfortably accommodate five people. Our kids were thrilled to sleep on the tatami mats for a night. The biggest pleasant surprise at this hotel was the free shuttle service to Kinkakuji Temple and the Arashiyama Sagano Scenic Railway.

The room was great, and the location was good too.
