Terrible and very rude staff named Linda. Arrived early around 12pm and got confirmed for an upgrade but had to wait for the room. After we went back around 4pm for checking in again they didn’t give us any upgrade so this rude Linda staff came and talked to us and asked us to wait for AROUND 1hr and gave us another room to wait in. We waited for more than an hour so we called and checked whether the room was ready yet and again Linda told us the room wouldn’t be ready until 6pm but if we wanted we can get the normal room instead. We had already waited for more than an hour at this point. We went down to the reception to check with them again and this Linda told us that room wasn’t ready as she already informed us when we arrived that it would take MORE THAN an hour to get it ready. She said she didn’t say AROUND AN HOUR BUT MORE THAN AN HOUR and tried to teach us basic English instead of doing her job to get the room ready asap. In the end we got our room at 6pm!!! Wasted whole afternoon waiting for this room getting misinformed by very rude staff.

The front desk was slow to process, probably because they were new people. The facilities were good, the room was small, there was an indoor hot spring, and there were few people.

A very nice hotel, very close to Kyoto City Hall Station. You can also walk to Kamogawa River. There are a lot of shopping and food in the surrounding area. There is a coffee bar in the hotel lobby, which you can enjoy for free. When you are tired from playing, there is a public bath to take a bath in, where you can comfortably relieve the fatigue of the day.

The most cost-effective Marriott hotel in Kyoto Low-key and full of details The public hot spring pool is a surprise! Don’t miss the breakfast at the hotel. It’s the most local Japanese breakfast in Kyoto. Moreover, the location of the hotel is very convenient. It is not far from Kamogawa River and the center of Kyoto. You can walk or take public transportation. Drop by the nearby Arashiyama or Sanzenin

A lower floor was given to Chinese people. Even though we are Marriott Ambassador members and were not upgraded, although breakfast was provided, it was the only hotel among the four hotels in Japan that was not upgraded. The smiling Caucasian people felt unfriendly. , Japanese people are more enthusiastic, but they don’t speak English very well…

I was allowed to use it alone on a holiday. I spent 4 years at university in Kyoto, so I was familiar with the area and this location was very convenient. However, for those who don't know much about Kyoto, it may feel a little far from downtown Kawaramachi. In the morning, I walked to Shinshindo's bakery and hung out in Kawaramachi. The lobby of the hotel smells good and feels good. I also use the affiliated hotel in Osaka Honmachi, but I prefer the lobby and appearance here. I really liked the public bath. I was impressed by the quiet, Kyoto-like atmosphere and spaciousness. The view from the room is zero, so you can't expect a sense of freedom by opening the window. So I thought it would be nice if the price was a little lower.

We just got back from a three night stay at the chapter tribute. I truly don’t understand how there could be any negative reviews written about this hotel. For context I am a Bonvoy titanium elite member staying at Marriott hotels over 60-70 times per year. Normally JW or Ritz..This hotel was a solid, four star hotel that was incredibly clean, quiet and well run. The staff was amazing and my only gripe was dinner was not served at the restaurant, but that was clearly communicated. If you were expecting 5 star luxury, the Ritz is right around the corner and you should stay there. We stayed in a 5 star hotel inTokyo the days preceding Kyoto and it was not a stark difference.

Marriott positions the Tribute Portfolio as a luxury brand. In this case, nothing can be farther from the truth. The rooms are built cheap, cheap and cheap. In particular, the toilets are modular exactly like a cruise ship. Rooms were small. Breakfast has very minimal fresh fruit and limited choices. This hotel does not represent the brand well and is much more like a limited service property.
