This is a wonderful hotel (with potential to be a fantastic hotel) in the La Fortuna area. The grounds are breathtaking, especially on a clear morning in front of the Arenal Volcano, and the hot springs were definitely a highlight of our trip. The breakfast was delicious, and the other food we ate at the hotel bar was reasonably priced and tasty. I love the concept of having our own little villa so I didn't have to worry about the kids yelling or being too loud for neighbors. The beds were a bit tired, and the room was in need of updating, though there were cute touches like the towel animals left on the bed each day. There were a few challenges with our room. For one, the first night we had a bat in our room. Maintenance took care of it in short order, but in doing so the bat pooped on one of the beds, so housekeeping brought us new sheets. There are a few upgrades that would take this tired hotel and make it spectacular. The lock on our cabin needed to be tightened - every time we opened or locked the door, we had to wrestle with the lock and key to get it to close. Seal the front door and the ceiling panel in the bathroom. Both had gaps which led to small bugs, particularly in the bathroom. Overall we had a good stay, but given the price tag and the beautiful surroundings, this cabin in particular needed a little TLC.
