Hotel Mountain Paradise

The name doesn't lie! All of the staff were very kind and friendly, the views were spectacular, the rooms were very nice and spacious, the pool is lovely (including the swim-up bar!) and the gardens are spectacular. The food was a bit hit or miss but I found that to be the case almost everywhere in Costa Rica. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Hotel Mountain Paradise exceeded all our expectations and delivered an unforgettable experience. The attention to detail in every aspect of our stay, from the elegantly appointed rooms to the delectable cuisine served at the restaurant, truly set this hotel apart. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction.

Our stay was disappointing.  Front desk desk staff lacked   customer  service skills, spoke little English,  and were using antiquated systems to perform their duties.  Both  our check-in and check-out experiences were unpleasant. There seemed to be no management oversite in this area to ensure guest satisfaction.  At check-in, you were given small ticket  vouchers to use for towels at the pool.  If you lost these during your stay, you were  charged  $25.00 for each, even if you never used the towel service.  A practice that makes no sense.    The hotel grounds sit on a hill, and cart service is offered to and from your room.  Unfortunately, each time we tried to use this service, there were long wait times and confusion among the staff if anyone was actually coming to pick us up.  The rooms are small individual villas which are in great need of refurbishment, starting with the roof.  The bathrooms are very odd with large waterfall showers and a separate shower, but each really didn't provide a good bathing experience.  The restaurant overall had good food and adequate  service in a nice open air setting, although the christmas decorations were still up, an example of the many small details that were overlooked to make a better guest experience.  There was one highlight of our visit, two exceptional employees,  Luis the bartender and Gaby, a server in the restaurant.  Both gave us exceptional service and helped make up for all of the other deficiencies we encountered.

Stayed in room 404. Originally booked 4 nights 12/20 to 12/24 at the last minute through *******. Had a problem with the reservation and both the hotel and ******* reached out to fix the problem. ******* was rude and difficult to deal with so cancelled ******* and worked with Tanya the hotel reservation manager to rebook for three nights through the hotel. Arrived at the hotel and everything was great. Got a room upgrade to a larger 2 bedroom villa with two bathrooms, a small kitchen area and a private pool in the front. Gorgeous room and rainforest like grounds. Breakfast buffet was hot and exceptional with fresh food, fruit and service with views of Arenal. Really nice swim up bar with food service and room service. Excellent quality food for dinner. Restaurant service was very good, bar service was also very good with lots of cocktails and a swim up bar and food service. Beautiful grounds. Every room is a private villa. I’ve stayed at Tabocan, Baldi and other much pricier resorts during my many other different stays in La Fortuna and this one is far and away the best value. Looking forward to going back.

This hotel is not a good place to stay. They charge for filtered water (so not even bottled water and there is a charge). The food was terrible and took ages to arrive. When I complained there was no manager available at the hotel at all (so basically no one responsible for what happened that day) and no resolution to my complaint from the staff. Lumpy pillows on the beds. I would not recommend this place at all.

The staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful. Clean, comfortable accommodations! Breathtaking views of volcano Arenal from our villa. Beautiful flora/fauna everywhere you look! MUST visit the hot springs!
