Had 1 night stay 30th June. The pub and staff were great. Food and breakfast were excellent, room was very nice and clean. Great location about 5 minutes walk from centre and the castle. My wife left her phone charger in the room and they very kindly posted out to us. Can't wait to stay again

We went for a meal last night and I was not impressed. The meal took 45 minutes to come as they were short staffed and we wouldn't have minded if the food had been decent when it did arrive but it really wasn't. We ordered fish and chips with garden peas and it came with mushy peas, ok no bother a small mistake which we could forgive as the meal as a whole was nice. We also ordered a burger. We paid 1.50 for bacon to be added and I kid you not it was the tiniest peoce of bacon ever and I thought this was a complete rip off, the fries were luke warm and we ended up not eating them, the burger itself was fine. We also ordered a hot dog and this is the meal that made my blood boil.... the menu describes a locally sourced bratwurst hotdogs, its sounded like something special and I'm telling you now, this was the type of hotdogs you get in a jar from a supermarket, it was tiny. It was in a bun which was too small. I'd finished it in 6 mouthfuls and honestly if i hadn't been so hungry i wouldn't have eaten it all. It wasn't very nice. The fries were also luke warm. I wanted to complain but the staff were so busy and I felt so sorry for them as other tables had complained to them already and didn't have the heart ....i also didn't have time to wait for a free coffee or whatever other meaningless apology we would be offered..... frankly nothing but our money back would have been acceptable. We won't be going back ever again and will not be recommending to anyone. Just to note, the staff behind the bar were great, very polite, very efficient and really friendly and they made us aware they were short staffed and the meals might take a little longer than usual.

Stayed one night this week. Very happy with the service, room and great breakfast. Great value for money. Would happily return and make a point of having an evening meal if the standard of the breakfast is anything to go by. Asked for fried bread and unlike most places that don’t or won’t do it they were happy to do it for me.

Having been to the Waggon And Horses several times over the years I was not aware that they had rooms and was pleasantly surprised when I noticed this on Booking dot com,We were eating at the restaurant next door consequently to stay at W &H was ideal. We were not disappointed! We were given a warm welcome by Bill and staff and shown to our room. The room whilst bijou had all that was required and more viz. Tea and coffee facilities, bottled water ( new to me in English hotels) and a lovely appointed En suite room . The bed was comfortable and there was adequate storage space. The bar area is spacious and offers a good range of Beers. Whilst we didnt eat there in the evening, the food looked very nice . Breakfast (iad the full English ) was indeed very nice, Parking in the vicinity was adeqhate and the location is excellent for those wishing to explore Lancaster. All in all I would thoroughly recommend The Waggon and Horses ,

We enjoyed a meal at the Wagon & Horses tonight. I had the steak and ale pie, which was lovely, and my husband ordered the ribs, which was a huge portion of ribs, accompanied by fries, onion rings, cirnbon the cob and a sidesalad with coleslaw. Very nice, we were impressed!

We stayed here one night as my daughter has recently returned to uni. This establishment has been taken over by new owners. We met Bill couldn’t have been more accommodating- our daughter joined us for breakfast - served by a very welcoming lady called Diane, nothing was too much trouble. The menus and therefore the tills had changed but the two lovely waitresses in the evening were very helpful. The food was enjoyed by all three of us. I would recommend this venue and we will definitely return.

Nice pub and good beer .food not a very good standard .my wife had fish and chips ,fish was ok but the chips looked like they had been cooked the day before and were dry and many inedible. My burger was burnt in places the blue cheese topping was just a lump of unmelting mess and the coleslaw which was supposed to be served on a bed of lettuce came on a limp single leaf .not very appetising and not at all like the photos . Although I would go back for a drink I would definitely think again about eating there.

Visited the wagon and horses this evening. Service was excellent. Food diabolical. Breaded mushrooms could not pierce with my fork. Hard as rock.the chicken and pressed beef was cold. My chicken was inedible the cheese cake was stale. What a shame the staff were let down by the food.

We all chose rotisserie chicken. It was the driest chicken I have ever eaten. We were plagued by flies. We asked Jo the waitress for the bill as we were desperate to leave. She forgot about us. Whole experience was awful . Never returning!!
