This resort is probably the biggest one I have ever stayed in. Conveniently located at the beach and not far from Laoag city centre, it offers a variety of activities, very good service, big rooms with balconies, swimming pools and an instagramable environment. Perfect for both couples and families, with good breakfast available at the restaurant and overall a very enjoyable stay. Prices are also affordable, and I’m sure you will enjoy your stay as much as we did.

The place is dated. Yet, it was maintained well enough. It could use a little TLC, though.

This hotel was originally built by President Ma in order to marry his daughter and welcome guests. The garden is beautiful and grand, and the facilities and equipment in the room are outdated like a guest house, but it is hygienic and not damp.

It's a relatively old-school hotel
The hotel occupies a large area, but the impact of the masks is relatively large. Many of the recreational facilities at the beach are abandoned.
The room smelled a bit musty and the water pressure was unstable
But the most important thing is to have a happy trip. There are blue skies and white clouds, and the hotel's garden, so you can relax...

It's a very nice hotel. I want to come here again. It's old, but it's well maintained, and the location is great except that it's far from the city. It seems like a good way to rest for a few days.

The scenery in the manor is still relatively atmospheric, a bit like Disney, you can take pictures with retro skirts. The hotel room is relatively old, and the furnishings in the room are relatively simple. But the price can't be too high. I don't know why, even if the air conditioner is turned off, the room is very cold. Although it is old, the facilities are still in normal use. The Chinese restaurant in the hotel tastes good and the price is not expensive. The zoo in the hotel was a highlight, the animals were well cared for after two years of the outbreak. The rest of the outdoor facilities have fallen into disrepair as they are left unattended. The beach horseback riding option that Ctrip can choose when booking a room has long since ceased operation due to the epidemic, and beach motorcycles have to be borrowed from other resorts a day or two in advance. The price is also very expensive, and Ctrip has not updated it in time. If you are afraid of noise, try not to choose the room facing the pool. There will always be a bunch of Filipinos chatting in the pool very early.

A once grand hotel that is in pretty severe disrepair. The whole place hasn’t been maintained and needs a lot of work, much more than just paint. On the bright side, no one got sick or bit by any bugs, and the staff were polite, and the huge pool looked clean.

The staff demonstrated professionalism. Best breakfast ever! The rooms were outdated, renovating it will be a great step. Pesticide will help control the proliferation of unwanted critters. There is a Chinese restaurant, but a bit pricey. The building itself was a little creepy, but I guess the ambiance was created for a specific audience.

Stayed for a week on business. The food was terrible, all the meat dishes dry, frozen vegetables. The pool was dirty, the beach was shocking covered in debris. The spa was closed, most of facilities were closed. My room was smelly, very dated, the TV didn’t work, the phone did not work which was a safety concern. Other non local guests I spoke with shared my experience, they had stayed before and told me the hotel used to be great but has deteriorated over the years. It needs a major improvement

The place itself is very nice. Kind of haunting but if you apprceiate architecture/interior design, you'll like the place. The staff are very helpful and welcoming, they are the very definition of filipino hospitality. We booked 2 deluxe rooms (3pax) w/ free breakfast. The rooms are nice and spacious, my favorite area is the balcony. Utilities like the t&b and tv can be updated. There is no bidet so be prepared. Free breakfast is great. Their bread is very addicting. Pool- olympic size and kept well. The shower area needs to be updated and kind of far from the pool area Zoo- sad. As an animal lover, i do not support this. Beach- the view of the west open sea is very nice. Sand is soft to the feet and nice to walk on. The shore however is dirty due to the atv tracks and oil spills from the vehicles. Archery, golf, shooting range - it's okay. Great assortment of activities Vicinity- we chose this hotel because it's the nicest one we could find that is closest to the sand dunes (our main reason for travelling up north) 10min drive away. Overall, it's nice to stay here bec of the staff, architecture, closeness to atv sand dunes and their bread. N.b.- politically speaking, if you are a yellow/pink supporter, you will not be happy with the gross display of the resort.

Fort Ilocandia is the only big hotel in Laoag and the grounds and architecture are EXCELLENT. Big kudos to the gardeners and the ones that maintain the verdant grounds clean and green. The rooms though have seen better days and urgently need an upgrade and renovation. Specifically, the owner could invest in having pin lights and energy efficient ones in the room as the rooms are somewhat dark and dank. The bathrooms could also get an upgrade with new tiles, a bidet and amenities. The Olympic size pool badly needs a cleaning overhauls - there’s only one pool attendant cleaning the pool from 5-8 am every day. This needs at least three persons. The beach needs clean up. Perhaps they can work with an NGO to do some volunteer days cleaning up the beach. The staff are friendly, respectful and nice and so are the drivers and attendants. Also, the Chinese restaurant on the second floor is authentic. The cafe though could use more variety, plus there should be a robust small store to purchase snacks and drinks. What they currently have leaves much to be desired. The employees and the architecture and grounds are the best parts. The owner of the hotel can invest and upgrade the place and have a strategic marketing plan to attract customers.

We were visiting laoag to see friends - and never having been there I asked for a recommendation. They suggested “fort illicandia”. So we booked. A week prior to traveling I read trip-advisor to see what to expect - I was shocked - I nearly cancelled The hotel is very large, has character - history and a certain charm. The staff were all helpful, pleasant and competent. Checkin/checkout was smooth; Our room quiet, comfortable and with decent ac. The beds were firm, linen clean and good quality. We ate with friends for breakfast (I think we paid 380 peso per head for the guests) - it was a good start to the day. The evening we had a delicious meal in the Chinese restaurant. I would gladly stay here again.

We enjoyed staying here because of the Java inspired look and also, I got to relax the bathtub. Please next time put a bidet but overall, it was awesome experienced. We enjoyed the outdoor activities. We will be back again here for my birthday celebration.
