Although we have visited Letterkenny on several occasions we haven’t stayed in the town, so we decided this time on our visit to Donegal that we would stay at Dillons Hotel, on arrival we were given a very warm welcome by Sarah Louise who explained everything about the hotel to us. We had booked a suite and we weren’t disappointed with the accommodation, so much space in the bedroom and lovely comfortable furniture, tea/coffee biscuits supplied and cartons of fresh cold water, central heating worked a treat when needed. Toilet/shower room was very spacious and lovely toiletries supplied, also fluffy white towels. We particularly liked the “ walk-in wardrobe “ so much hanging space, shelves and drawers, and an iron/ironing board supplied. If I had 1 complaint about this area it’s about the position of the safe…..at floor level it isn’t ideally placed for someone with mobility problems or for an older person ( I fit into both categories) perhaps placing the safe at “eye level” would’ve been a better option. We liked the whole ambiance of the Hotel, the staff were just amazing, so helpful, pleasant and extremely courteous, that’s from Reception staff to housekeeping staff. If we had one criticism it would be about some, not all of the food served in the restaurant. One thing we dislike is “ frozen food” being served up, I don’t mean the food was cold, but some of the dishes were most certainly defrosted and re-heated, in particular the fried haddock, scampi, and gougons, it never failed to amaze how about 5/10:mins from ordering, the food was served up, and from the taste /texture was definitely frozen then heated up, small criticism but worth mentioning. Would we stay at Dillons again? Of course we would, it’s a lovely hotel, spotlessly clean, wonderful staff, and ideally situated in the town for shopping and for driving around beautiful Donegal.
