Hotels near Church of La Ermita La Agonia, Liberia

Well located in Liberia, walking distance to both bus stations and the main strip of shops. Quiet at night. Large rooms, layout is a bit weird but they're excellent value. Contact them directly if you can by phone or WhatsApp for a better rate than you find on the booking sites. We stayed here on 3 different occasions while travelling around Costa Rica. Nothing super fancy about this place but the staff are friendly and it does the job.

Wonderful unique experience. Highly recommended. Spent 3 days with my wife and 2 17 year old girls. The road was fine, just a bit bumpy at the end. Our 2 wheel drive made it with no problem. If you're a towny, maybe you have never seen a dirt road, but for Costa Rica this was pretty well maintained. Pools were great. The mud ”bath” was a little tub of hot mud that you smear all over your body and then shower later. It felt great. We saw 3 different species of monkeys plus several other animals I had never seen before. We took a great trail and saw 3 amazing waterfalls. Breakfast was good. Dinner was okay. Only one restaurant open this time of year. Service throughout was superb. Lovely relaxing beautiful place!

Solo trip over a long weekend, and Golden Palms was a great choice. Pros: - Quiet. This could be because I went during low season, but I twice had the pool to myself in the morning and at night. There was no wait for food, and I had my pick of beach lounges. - Everyone was SUPER friendly, but this is consistent in Costa Rica. - Location is less than 30 minutes from the airport. Also, was closer to Nicaragua for my one day trip there. - Rooms are exactly as pictured, and clean. Beds were made daily, with towels/robes refreshed daily. - Food portions were satisfying. - Property is beautiful upon arrival. I went on a number of tours, and multiple passengers from other hotels commented on how beautiful the property was. - Price was more than fair for where i stayed and the service I received. If back in Papagayo, I'd stay here again, hands down. - Security was checked every time I arrived or left the property. Cons: - Bugs/spiders in the bathroom. I actually didn't complain about this because it didn't bother me, but I can see how it would with other people. - Pool needs cleaning multiple times a day, but wasn't. I'm weird - WEIRD about swimming in a pool with a lot of debris. I did it, but hated doing it. - Restaurant food was ok. It definitely isn't varied. Over my four nights there I tried almost everything, I didn't hate anything. The pancakes I tried the morning I left were delicious, I'd recommend those. - Because the restaurant food isn't exceptional, the location is sort of a negative as well because you're not near anything. You'll have to drive or take a very expensive taxi to eat at other locations. All in all, I enjoyed my time there, and would not only stay again, but recommend it to others looking for an reasonably priced Papagayo/Guanacaste hotel stay

My favorite thing about this hotel was the relaxed, kind, and efficient staff – Fatima, Kattia, Marta and Maria, and the grounds keepers – mucho gracias! The room was nice and the bed comfy. It was generally a safe, quiet place, about a 20 min walk from downtown. The pool area was lovely and picturesque; quite refreshing for a sunset swim. The lobby was welcoming, with lovely art. Excellent Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, the location was about 3-4 blocks from the beach, so I couldn’t pop into the ocean as I expected. There wasn’t a place to store my gear if I wanted to go into the sea. Also, there weren’t affordable restaurants nearby that seemed solo-traveler friendly, so my evening options were limited. Instead, I had late lunches at my fav cafe a 15 min walk away, Guayoyo. I’d recommend these Villas only if you have transportation.
