Great, charming castle hotel directly on the Moselle. Room upgrade at no extra charge with a view of the Moselle 👍 Breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., so no rush when getting up. Courteous service, especially at reception. Check-out at 11 a.m. but you can use the wellness area until 10 p.m. and get a basket with a bathrobe and slippers. Would happily go back ✌️

We booked two river view rooms, expecting to enjoy the beautiful views advertised by the hotel. Unfortunately, what we encountered fell far short of our expectations. The "river view" from our rooms was extremely limited—one required standing at a specific corner and peering through a small window to catch a glimpse of the river. The other room had a similarly small window, positioned high enough that you had to step up to see anything. This issue occurred in both rooms, indicating that it was not an isolated case. Despite multiple requests, the hotel refused to move us to different rooms, offer a credit, or provide any form of compensation. We even suggested checking out early for a partial refund, but this was also declined. I must say I have not experienced such a clear case of misleading marketing and blasé attitude to guests in many years of travel. Beware.
Response from Property: Dear Jens, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your honest feedback. we are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. We apologize for the inconvenience. However, please note that we are a very small hotel with only 49 rooms and are currently very busy, so sometimes it is not easy to change rooms. Our guests are our top priority and we always strive to exceed the expectations of our guests and provide the best service. We are sorry that you had a different experience and we sincerely apologize. Please also note that we are an older castle and all rooms are very individual, although the categories are the same. there are always rooms with larger and smaller windows. Nevertheless, we will address the problem again in our department so that this does not happen again and hope to be able to welcome you again in the near future. We had a lovely stay at this beautiful castle/hotel. The place is full of some fantastic art work and oozes history. The location was a little too remote for our liking but will be idyllic for others. In so many ways this is a 5 stay hotel. However for us it was let down with some very small things that come as standard now in other similar hotels which is why we rated it very good rather than excellent. Each on their own really are minor complaints but include: No choice of pillow and the pillows in the room were too soft for us. No one to greet us at the bottom of stairs on arrival leading to us carrying luggage up some steep steps when we later found out a lift was available The parking at €20 euros a night when it is much cheaper/free just outside the hotel. We booked wine tasting that was cancelled at lunch time (due to the sommelier being ill). Not really anyone’s fault and the communication was good but still frustrating. No turndown service in the evenings. All that said the service we received in the breakfast bar and the quality of the food was superb as it was in the bar for some post dinner drinks.
Response from Property: Dear Simon565, Thank you for your sincere review of your recent visit to schloss lieser. On behalf of the entire schloss lieser team, we would like to sincerely apologize for not meeting your expectations of your stay. All points mentioned will be discussed in our team meeting and appropriate measures will be taken immediately. We also appreciate your positive feedback on the breakfast service, the quality of the food and the service at the bar. It is our aim to learn from all feedback in order to improve our service. I am very sorry that your stay did not reach the desired standard. I would be delighted to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future to provide you with an unforgettable experience. We booked two river view rooms, the highest category before the suites, expecting a view. However, our river view rooms had no views to speak of. One room required you to go to the far end, turn right, and squint through a window the size of a pillow to catch a glimpse. In the other room, you'd have to step onto a step just to peer through another small window. This happened in *both* rooms-clearly not an isolated incident. The most egregious part? We pointed this out to the hotel and gave them multiple chances to rectify the situation. They refused to move us, offer any credit, or provide a solution. We even suggested checking out for a partial refund-they declined. I've never encountered a hotel so unwilling to address a legitimate complaint, even when it's clear the guests are unhappy for valid reasons. It's obvious what's going on here. I rarely leave reviews, but this kind of behavior needs to be exposed-it's truly shocking. I suspect this hotel relies on older guests and tour groups who overlook this blatant false advertising. That's the only explanation I have for the otherwise positive reviews. And before the property responds claiming surprise at our experience: we exhausted all options, including contacting *******, who offered a partial refund upon seeing photo evidence. The funds came from *******, not the hotel, which declined to do anything when ******* contacted the hotel.

In view of the many highly positive reviews of this hotel, it feels rather churlish to be less than unreservedly positive, but I do have reservations. The exterior of the hotel is indeed stunning and for those rooms with a river views the views are lovely. We had quite a large room with a good river view and a very large bathroom with separate bath and shower – excellent. I would recommend going when the weather is not too hot, because with temperatures in the high twenties, the room’s air conditioning could not cope. It was not the effectiveness of climate control normally found in a Marriott hotel. The hotel has nice grounds. The parking opposite the hotel is excellent. It is easy to access and cheap so do avoid the hotel car park. The local village is about 100 metres from the hotel with a baker and two butchers (cheese and cold meat). The hotel's swimming pool is good. Staff at reception are professional. The reservations beyond the ineffective air conditioning revolve around the catering arrangements. On our first evening we asked to book a table in the restaurant. We were informed that we could have a table at 6.30pm or 8pm. We opted for 6.30pm but given the options we expected to find the restaurant busy. Therefore we were surprised to arrive at the restaurant, announce we had a booking and then shown to a table in an empty restaurant. As time went on though the evening we felt quite self-conscious as the only diners in the restaurant for the entire evening. people were at tables on the terrace outside and we would have preferred this but we were never offered the chance. Weird! We each had two courses (main courses were lacking in generosity) and a soft drink so we were quite shocked when the bill came to 131.50 euros. Then we discovered that breakfast was 35 euros each so we skipped breakfast and this is where the local bakers and butchers came to our aid. Having experienced dinner on the first evening we were very grateful for a good Italian restaurant very near the hotel on one side (Der Italiener Da Pepe), and we had good trout at a restaurant at the end of the hotel’s driveway in the other direction (Moselhotel Lesura).

Recently I stayed for a small get-away together with my husband in Schloss Lieser. We had an amazing time here and this hotel is definitely one to recommend. Staff were all very friendly and all say something or smiled friendly. I ordered the fitness toast for breakfast and it was delicious the same for the buffet. The diner in Puricelli was beyond our expectations, professional service, delicious food and a beautiful view over the Mosel river. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. We also rend bikes to explore the neighboorhoud. An excellent stay! Regards, Sarah

While the views may be astounding and the setting straight out of a period drama, the terrace at Schloss Lieser is less than spectacular. On a balmy Saturday afternoon, we hoped to have a bit of lunch and a cold glass of wine. However, the service seemed to have evaporated, unlike the unquenched thirst with which I arrived. After flagging down one of the waitstaff to place a food and drink order, we waited... Perhaps 10 minutes went by before our drinks were delivered, then another 20-30 minutes before our two salads and the cheese plate (which was supposed to be a starter) were all plunked onto our table at once. Setting the lack of prompt and attentive service that a location like this advertises aside, the food was merely lackluster. A salad with fried halloumi came out lacking enough dressing and with cold halloumi, while the rillette of salmon was a pot of rillette, basic salad and a few slices of baguette. I would argue that the Vesperplatte (cheese and charcuterie platter) was the best of the three dishes and the only one at a price point that matched the quality and ingredients provided. If Schloss Lieser wants to have their terrace come anywhere close in performance and satisfaction that their dining room delivers, they need to look at training waitstaff to be more attentive to customers' needs, timeliness of product delivery (30+ minutes is unreasonable for two salads), and quality of the product delivered. There are many other small venues all along the Mosel, perhaps try one that values its customers a bit more than Schloss Lieser.
Response from Property: Dear Guest bryonuk14, The entire Schloss Lieser team regrets not delivering on your culinary expectations as well as the excellent service that characterizes our hotel. Every detail of your last visit and experience on our terrace will be communicated to the respective department heads as well as to our hotel manager for appropriate action. Our objective is to offer high quality dishes and a pleasant dining experience, which unfortunately we were not able to deliver in your case. Your reference to our staff is also taken seriously by all of us. We will take internal measures to ensure that our service meets the high standards of Schloss Lieser. Our goal is to learn from all feedback to improve our service. I am very sorry that your last visit was not up to the desired standard. I would be delighted to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future to offer you an unforgettable experience. Best regards, Rosa Camana Vega Front Office Supervisor

The hotel is a magical place! It is well worth spending more than two nights in this lovely part of Germany. The rooms were comfortable and nice. Unfortunately we could not try the restaurant since my husband fell ill that night. I had the best ousters and Glas of vine on the terrace by myself. I recommend the staying at this hotel! And yes, I had a wonderful manicure with Larissa!
Response from Property: Dear Monica O, On behalf of the entire Schloss Lieser team, we are proud to read that your stay at the historic castle met all the expectations you had for your visit. We hope that you will be able to visit us again soon, and that your husband will also be able to enjoy a good wine on the terrace. Thank you for the incredible feedback, it is very valuable the time you spent for it. Warm regards from Lieser, Rosa Camana Vega Front Office Supervisor

Having passed this hotel many times before and during its extensive , it’s total renovation together with my wife we have had a great desire to see the full extent of beautiful architectural wonder, hidden away on the river Mosel. The hotel is in the small wine village of Leiser. The hotel stands in its own grounds which are well maintained it overlooks the river Mosel and has expanse of vineyards to the rear . There are different rooms and suites on offer to match a variety of budgets . On entering the hotel we received a warm welcome from all the staff we met .We had a Mosel view junior suite booked and were lucky to have an upgrade to the Freifrauen suite which gave us access to a balcony overlooking the Mosel and vineyards to the rear. The only downside was a little noise, nothing too significant, from the people on the covered patio area below. The accommodation oozes opulence from a bygone era which has been wonderfully restored to the highest of standards. Over the years I have spent lots of time and effort on renovation works , this is a great opportunity to see what can be done when money is no object . There is a restaurant on site with a variety of menu items. The breakfast offered is more than sufficient and suitable to satisfy all diners , once again the setting was really nice and the service was excellent . Disabled access to the hotel is available from ground level and then via a lift system ( more than one lift ) to the reception and all rooms and facilities. There is limited on site parking in an underground car park which is well worth the additional charge and is almost as opulent as the hotel. It’s worth noting that the village of Leiser has an over zealous approach to charging everywhere for parking unlike many other Mosel villages. There are various facilities in the village but … anyway, the hotel is able to provide any guest an opportunity to enjoy all they desire .
Response from Property: Dear Dave S, We are very pleased that the architecture of the historic hotel has impressed you as well as every detail that has been considered in all the areas of the castle. Thank you for the positive words to all our team for the excellent job they have done to offer you a wonderful stay. Regarding the incident on the terrace, we will take the appropriate measures in collaboration with all the department heads. Thank you again for your detailed experience at the hotel Schloss lieser. We look forward to welcoming you again soon at the hotel. Kind regards, Rosa Camana Vega Front Office Supervisor

A group of us stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in June. From the beginning, the staff were helpful, attentive and very kind. The restaurant food and service was first rate and the rooms are clean, comfortable and very nicely appointed. The Schloss is an easy bus trip or drive into Bernkastel- Kues, a lovely and architecturally rich little town with nice restaurants and shops.
Response from Property: Hello Alec ! we are very pleased to hear that you were satisfied with your stay and have given us a rating of 5 out of 5 ! We would like to thank you very much for your positive feedback and rating. It is our goal to provide our guests with a pleasant and comfortable stay and we are pleased to hear that we were able to meet your expectations. Your praise is a great motivation for our team to continue providing excellent service and we hope to welcome you back soon and provide you with another first-class stay. Thank you for your review and your trust in our hotel, we are already looking forward to your next visit! Kind Regards, Gina Luisa Musielak Junior Front Office Supervisor
