Although it’s within ancient city, it’s still required some distance to the entrance (where you can take cabs) or the main shopping areas. However it can be a plus point as to less sound pollution too. Great services from the team. The staff fetched me from the entrance and escorted me out as well (with the floor tiles in ancient city it’s really hard to move around with the luggage). Owner added me into the WeChat group where you can raise any queries or issues in the group and someone would respond to it promptly (really fast). Had a great chat with the homestay owner who also recommended me the transport to shangrila, which was relatively reliable (as compared to other tour agents). Overall it was a good experience!

The inn is in a quiet part of the ancient city, away from the main thoroughfare. It is an ideal base to explore the town's complicated irregular network of passages and paths of ancient cobblestone streets, canals and cultural landmarks. We booked two rooms for three nights. We were allocated a room on the ground floor next to the courtyard and another on the second floor. The latter was slightly bigger, with an ornate solid wood four-poster bed. The inn has all the amenities listed and they all work. However, in our opinion, it was the people who served us that set the place apart. Our heartfelt thanks to .. Joye – Speaks good English. Engaging. Served us lots of tea, pastry and fruit. Gave good recommendation of things to do. He arranged our day hike to the Tiger Leaping Gorge – to and fro, point to point. The rates were very decent compared to the exorbitant ones online. Mr Chang – Always ensuring we are fed, and fed well. He gave us packed sandwiches and tea eggs to bring along on our hike and on our last day too when we had to catch the evening train back to Kunming. He took it upon himself to accompany us to the bus stop early in the morning of our hike. He helped to trolley our luggage out to catch the taxi on our last day. Our thanks also go to Cassie for housekeeping, to the hardworking and pleasant Naxi woman who was always busy keeping the place clean and tidy and to the young man who helped Mr Chang serve us some very delicious noodles, paus and tea for breakfast. Lastly, a big hug to Hot Dog and his furry buddies. They are such a joy to ‘come home’ to, always on their best behaviour.

We stayed here for 3 days 2 nights. Friendly English-speaking owner, helpful staffs, a cute Alaskan Malamute couple... No wonder Xilu Xiaoxie Inn has a good reputation among foreigners. The location is easy to find. Our room has "home sweet home" vibes. The owner sent one of his staffs to pick us up at Nanmen (south gate of Lijiang Old Town) because it would be difficult to drag our big luggages by ourselves without a trolley/carriage. He also help us managed our airport transfer. Overall, good memories.

What a lovely stay! The hotel is very well located, inside the ancient town, near south gate. Just walking some meters you can reach to ships of all kind. The room so beautiful, the bed very big and confortable. Very well equipped, i couldn’t think of anything that missed. They served a really completed and delicious breakfast. People on the staff was very kind and always try to help me with everything i asked. Thanks very much!

Great location, near to the busy street but a quiet sanctuary when it’s time to rest. Bed and sheets are really comfy! Fantastic team, and thank you for helping to arrange luggage transport as well as the lovely homemade breakfasts!! They even specially made takeaway breakfasts for us because we were leaving quite early that day to continue our trip in Shangri-La. Thank you! :) *bonus: super cute and relaxed husky!

my 2nd time booking at same hotel. location inside old town lijiang. enter at south gate entrance.good place to stay to feel old town vibes. wechat them before arrived and they will provide trolley to bring the luggage. there is bed heater and portable heater inside room so u wont freeze during winter. the hotel people very nice. when asking about muslim restaurant, cici give recommend place to eat. staff name anthoy really superb. he go and show us himself the way to the restaurant. he run and check if the shop still open or not while waiting us to walk there. there is 3 halal restaurant at the south gate area. During check out, another staff give us fruit to be eat since we didnt take breakfast to catch for train. will stay here if i come for the 3rd time in future.

We are traveling for 3 month and this hotel was one of our best ! The staff was really friendly, and Joye was really helpful to help us organize Jade Dragon Snow mountain. He speaks a perfect English and it was very helpful for us. Rooms are very nice and clean! PS: they have a very (big) cute dog ❤️

Beautiful hotel in a quite area. Walkable to Old Town. Easy access with DiDi or Taxi. Friendly staff. We had a big room and it was quite comfortable. The toilet is neat and proper.

This small hotel is in a great location. Very few rooms but they are excellently furnished. It's a courtyard style property. The staff are great, helpful and informal. The manager speaks english and you can also use wechat with translation to communicate. Definitely a different and more friendly experience to larger hotels.

Here I am! The hotel is in a very convenient location and is welcoming and clean. It offers a free luggage transport service (to/from the South Gate) upon arrival and departure. But the real difference is made by Mr Joy, the hotel manager. I was welcomed by a cultured man, with a deep knowledge of the world and who speaks excellent English. From then on, he helped me organize excursions, rent bikes and responded to my every need as a traveler. Mr Joy's motto is: “be kind, be friendly, be honest”. What else!!

We recently stayed at this hotel during our friend's travel to China and we had a fantastic experience. The beds were incredibly comfortable with heating bedsheets that kept us warm throughout the night. The room was well-stocked with all the necessary toiletries and clean towels. One thing that really stood out to us was the excellent customer service. The manager, Joey, went above and beyond to help us with navigation and answer all of our questions. It was clear that he genuinely cared about our comfort and enjoyment during our stay. In addition, it was rare to find that all staff members spoke English, which made communication much easier for us as foreigners in China. We also had the pleasure of booking an in-room massage during our stay, which was a phenomenal experience. The masseuse was skilled and attentive, leaving us feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Overall, we highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in China. The combination of comfortable beds, excellent customer service, and English-speaking staff made our stay truly memorable. Thank you to Joey and the rest of the team for making our stay so pleasant.
