There are super cute employees at the front desk who are very enthusiastic. They will introduce to me the functions of each room and show me how to use each door card to ensure that the performance of the card is intact.

Location is fantastic, right on Rossio square, easy reach of all the major sights. We booked a deluxe castle view room which was lovely. There’s about 7 flights of stairs to get to the room however! The hostel is accessed through a gift shop during the day and you have to use your key card at night. Reception is about 3 flights up, they have a small bar there which sells beers and water there is also a lounge/ dining room where they serve breakfast. The reception team were friendly. The breakfast wasn’t that great - we ate the first day but went out the next. It’s listed as buffet but it’s scrambled egg, pancakes, ham, cheese and cereals. Our room Cascais was in the loft, it had plenty of character. The bed was ok, very squeaky when you moved and there was a gap between the headboard and the wall which was annoying. The pillows were like teabags. We overlooked the square and the castle but it wasn’t noisy thanks to the huge fan in the room which was well needed. Plenty of plug sockets, a large mirror and handing space for clothes - no drawers. The bathroom was spacious with a walk in shower which was huge! We paid €260 for 2 nights and this was so much cheaper than any of the other hotels in the area, it did the job.

My stay at the Rossio Hostel in Lisbon was a delightful experience from start to finish. The hostel emits a warm and welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. The staff were truly exceptional; not only were they attentive and helpful, but they also went above and beyond to ensure that all guests felt comfortable and valued. The food at the hostel was simply gorgeous. Each meal was well-prepared, with a variety of options that catered to different tastes and dietary requirements, all served in a pleasant dining environment. As for the accommodations, the rooms were notably quiet, which is always a plus when staying in a bustling city center. This made it easy to relax and recharge after a day of exploring Lisbon. Overall, Rossio Hostel offers a fantastic blend of friendly atmosphere, exceptional service, and comfortable lodging, all at a great value. It's an excellent choice for travellers seeking a pleasant and convenient stay in Lisbon.

Lets face it - you stay here for the location. And it is perfect. Right above the Rossio Square, walking distance to most attractions, and metro/train stations. This was our first hostel in Europe and the service was great with staff preparing pancakes and eggs with the usual continental breakfast offerings, plus helping carry bags up the 4 floors to the room (no lift!). They also offer free walking tours and other recommendations. Ensuite room itself was nicely decorated, great view of square, but a bit noisy (mostly from other guests walking around hallway rather than square noise). The bed was a little hard and musty, and wooden floor sticky. Ensuite was clean but water leaks out from shower a little. There was a safe in room but no instructions and can just be carried away. We didnt use it.

This is our second time at Rossio Hostel - we thought it the best hostel we'd ever stayed at in 2019, and now it is even better. Not enough words to tell you everything great about it - though if we boil it down to two words it would be THE PEOPLE who work there are what makes it amazing. Sunday Fado night is not to be missed - when we were there Rossio brought in Jessica Fernandez, who is an amazing singer and she was backed by two highly skilled guitar players - one on classical guitar and one on the Portuguese guitar. Pizza night on Wednesday also included a cover band that was a lot of fun. Aside from all this Rossio Hostel is in a fantastic old building from the late 1700s/early 1800s (post-earthquake) - lots of character. Rossio sits right on Rossio Square - a very central part of Lisbon with the metro and trains right outside your doot. Now, as to what makes Rossio Hostel really stand out - well, that is the people. A big thank you, and kudos, to the staff at Rossio: Madalena, Leavis (hope I'm spelling your nake right my friend), Rita, Paula, Mackayla (also hoping I get your name right), Victoria and especially Elsa who cooked up amazing scrambled eggs and crepes Monday to Friday. I didn't catch the name of the weekend cook - also a big thank you to you and the young lady helping you on the weekend. There are other staff that I didn't have a chance to get their names. The staff at Rossio Hostel make you feel like you are at home - my partner and I also felt like we were part of their family for the six days we were there. The big downside to Rossio Hostel is when you have to leave - the staff make it really hard to leave, because they make you feel so welcome and at home. We've been there twice and we will absolutely be back. If there were a way to give a rating higher than 10 we would certainly do it. Thanks again to everyone at Rossio Hostel for making our trip so special and memorable. We're over 70 and we think this is wonderful. We had the only room with ensuite facilities, so most people will have other accommodation experiences. We seemed to become part of the family and we were well cared-for. The staff are all generous, helpful and engaging while the clientele tends to be respectful, younger, well educated, and diverse. Pizza night on Weds. with live music and fabulous live Fado dinners on Sun. or Sat,. (Fabulous in the quality of singling and music but a rustic and bohemian/authentic(?) food service. Reserve ahead as there is very limited space. ) Everything was as perfect as they could make it. We would go back in a flash. There's no new furniture, elevator, or notable amenities, but great breakfasts. Our 4th floor room has quirky plumbing, cheap furniture, a springy but comfortably sleeping bed, and a great outlook over Rossio Square which is surprisingly quiet ( really! ) at night. We slept for a week with the windows open. They will help you with your bags on the long flights of stairs: the hostel starts on the second floor up and is strangely accessed through a little gift shop so you rather have to look for it in the little pedestrian-only passage just off the middle of the square. Understand that although it's "just a hostel" ( No Phone, No Pool, No Pets ) it is unique in our experience for the spirit and service and friendly vibe. We stayed a week so we were able to settle in while its perfect location made it ideal for holidaying in Lisbon. We have invited some of the staff to stay with US if they visit our home town.

Beautiful room with a wonderful view of the square. Good and plentiful breakfast. The only problem was that the stairs were very narrow and therefore carrying luggage was rather inconvenient.
