We were looking for four nights' accommodation in Lisbon and we chose this hotel based on its good reviews, impressive sustainability practices and the location (given that many travel sites recommmended Alfama as the place to be for tourists). Its historic roots as a convent were also appealing to us. We caught a taxi from the airport and were astonished that it made it right to the door of the hotel along a narrow cobbled street! We arrived early in the afternoon but there was no issue with accessing our room and check-in was friendly, performed at an informal desk in reception. Our Duplex Junior Suite overlooked the large courtyard and was lovely, with a sitting area (with fridge) and bathroom downstairs while the large bedroom was upstairs. The suite was furnished very tastefully with an almost Scandi vibe to it - relaxing, contemporary and understated. The hotel's location suited us well as tourists, being walking distance to most places we wanted to see. The streets are hilly and cobbled so we wouldn't recommend this area to older visitors, but it was fine for us. The historic tram 28 was very close by and the area was incredibly busy during our visit thanks to the annual festival being on and also Santo Antonio festival at the same time. As a result, it was noisy into the small hours and the streets were covered in rubbish the entire time we were there. Our room insulated us from much of the noise, thankfully! Maybe avoid this time of year if you're looking for a quieter experience. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our room was a nice place to be, the staff always acknowledged us as we came and went, and our departure was made easier by their handy transfer service, right from the door.
