We stayed for 4 nights, locals and staff where very friendly, good food and vairied, well stocked bar with local real ales. A nice historic village and museum plus coffee shop next to hotel, if there was any down side to the hotel was it could do with a paint on the outside to freshen up, but on the hole we enjoyed our stay.

This was truly a port in the storm. We came for lunch but due to landslides & road closures the owner Richard offered us his last room, Yes it needs some sprucing up, but they were so kind, the food was excellent and the patrons all seem like family. I was grateful to have a room, bed & shower for the evening otherwise we would have been stranded as the road we needed was destroyed by a mudslide.

The room smelt damp, and so I went to the window to open it, and then realised why.. The curtain was covered in mould and the window ? What an absolute disgrace. My wife travelled 9.5 hours to get to this hotel as a stopover while we look at a property nearby, and just needed some sleep but apparently the bar was open til 1am.

This beautiful historic building is set in the most incredible scenery. I shared the ‘Winter’ room with my son. It was actually two rooms with a separate shower and toilet. The beds were comfortable and the shower warm and powerful. The views from our room were incredible. But the real charm of this place is the staff. To find such an interesting and varied menu, including vegetarian options, in a tiny place in the middle of the highlands was amazing. The meals were freshly cooked and delicious. The bar is lively and cozy. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The icing on the cake was a freshly cooked breakfast to order in the morning. This place is not fancy and is obviously slowly being restored to its former glory. However the food and the welcome more than make up for it and I would not hesitate to stay again or recommend.

Lovely food and staff very helpful and welcoming . Good choice of food on the menu. Nothing was too much of an issue for the staff. Allowed dogs which was great. I hope this business is able to stay open as it was excellent.

Treat yourself. Go and stay here and eat their yummy food. If you are looking for posh, this isn’t for you. But if you’re looking for comfort, homely, and history, then this is for you. The staff are super friendly, and the scrambled eggs are some of the best I’ve eaten.

Great stay in lovely part of the world. There's a bit of work going on but it didnt affect us at all. Food and hospitality were great. Very warm and cosy despite it being end of January. Would recommend this hotel but book ahead because it is small and lovely

I booked The Kilmartin Hotel pretty last minute for a business trip . The reviews on trip advisor are not a true reflection on our stay at all. We arrived at 2:30 pm approximately to find that all of the doors were locked, with no sign of life. We then phoned and no one answered, so we left a message, we were not called back. The temperature outside was approximately-1 Celsius at the time. We decided to walk round to the back of the property and saw the chef cooking in the kitchen. We knocked the window and he came out. He was very friendly and helped us to the best of his ability. He called another staff members who then arrived 5 minutes later to check us in and show us to our room. We paid £110 for a room which was supposed to have a bath, that was not the case, we had a room with a shower, but that want an issue. The main issue was the room. We got “The Winter” room and I can honestly say that it is the worst room that I have ever stayed in. I run a very successful tour company and stay in hotels and B and B’s all over the country.with clients from all over the world and for me not to post this review would be completely irresponsible as I would hate anyone to pay good money to come to Scotland, to find this disgraceful accommodation. On entering the room, we found the ceiling rose hanging down from the light fitting with single core, single insulated cables with live terminals exposed. I must add that I am also a fully qualified electrician with over 25 years experience. The other main issue was the ceiling, with horrific water marks and mould on the ceiling. During the night, we were both woken up on several occasions with a scratching noise from within the walls, The property clearly has an issue with mice or rats. I find this level of hospitality disgusting and not acceptable. It would cost a decorator £150 approx for a days work, plus some sugar soap, stain block and white emulsion paint to touch up the ceiling. There is obviously a bigger problem from above the ceiling, but to walk in to the room and see it like that was disgusting. I have read many of the reviews, one I believe from 2019 was from the same room and even a photo of the same light fitting hanging down. I will say that the staff were all friendly, the haggis starter was very good, as was the steak pie, my cheeseburger was dry. The onion rings were absolutely disgusting and drenched in oil and I could not eat them. Breakfast was also absolutely fine. All I can say is , the way the hotel is at the moment, avoid avoid avoid. The location is stunning and steeped in history and people deserve much much better.
