Astor Hyde Park Hostel

The location is very good, so I think it's perfect for sightseeing. You are given a card key at check-in, so you can open and close your room with the card key. The cover on my room's card key holder had come off and was about to break, but I was able to enter by holding the card key. The bed was new and clean. However, there was no curtain on the bed, so I hung towels with clothespins or clips to use as curtains. There is an outlet and USB at the bedside, so you can charge your phone. The outlet on my bed was loose, so if it wasn't plugged in properly, it sometimes didn't charge. There are large boxes under the beds to put your luggage in. There are no locks, so you can't lock it unless you bring your own padlock. The shower room is not very clean, and there is no place to put your luggage, so you have to put your luggage on the toilet lid. The outlet in the bathroom cannot be used for a hair dryer, so you have to use the outlet in the room. I was staying with a roommate, so I was careful. The shared areas were old. The kitchen had three microwaves and three refrigerators, so it was easy to use, but it wasn't very clean. Many people don't clean up after using the facilities. The tables where you eat were not clean either; the dishes were left there, wet, or had food scraps on them. There was a laundry room, but to be honest it wasn't very clean and I didn't feel like using it.

The facilities are old, but the location is good. It is in the center of London and the neighborhood is safe, so you can walk around late at night without worry. However, the bed was a bit dirty, and the bed I first received didn't have USB power.

Clean and hygienic, with big bright windows! Although you have to climb a lot of stairs, the service guy the day before yesterday was eager to help you with your luggage! Thanks Leo and Brika!
