Spent one night here on a busy Friday at the end of June. Arrived at a busy reception but was checked in quickly. The team seemed a little inexperienced - there was no mention of Hilton Honours, I'm a Diamond member of their loyalty scheme which normally means I'm offered a snack and a drink on arrival at a Hampton, when I mentioned this, it appeared to be news to the person who was checking me in, who initially asked me to sign for them before checking with someone - but was friendly. My room was nice, had USB-B and USB-C ports, nice bed, and was modern and comfortable. Wifi was good, both in the room and in reception, and the bathroom was reasonably large and had a nice shower. The hotel is in a quiet street not far from Old Street roundabout, so not far from the tourist sites in the centre of the city and also near plenty of businesses. Breakfast was the usual Hampton arrangement with a buffet included in the rate, but I was impressed by the range and quantity. The orange juice and the pastries were better quality than I expected - the chocolate croissant was lovely! - and there was plenty of choice relative to what I expected. Unsurprisingly, breakfast was busy at 09:00 on a Saturday morning, but the staff kept the buffet stocked, and I didn't have a problem in finding a seat. Checkout was very quick as usual, although more than a day later I haven't yet had my bill emailed to me which normally happens automatically. I was surprised about the numbering of floors. In the UK, the normal practice is that the floor at ground level is called "Ground", then the first one above that is "1", then "2" and so on. If there is a basement, then these are normally something like "-1", "-2", etc. In this hotel, the floors go 1, 2, G, 3, 4, so floors 1 and 2 are actually in a basement, and floors 3 and 4 are actually what would normally be called the first and second floor. Worth watching out for if you're not keen on a basement room. There were a couple of little issues like at check in, but they were minor for me, and just the teething problems of a new hotel. Hopefully they will be resolved soon. I would certainly stay here again.
