"The service was great - from the security on the door to the members of staff in reception and the cleaning staff - everyone was friendly and helpful. The facilities were mixed - the reception area is certainly sparse; there are a couple of sofas and a vending machine - not somewhere you would really want to hang out for any period of time and certainly not a great space to socialise... fortunately, being Piccadilly, there are other places close by. Even McDonald's in Leicester Square was more inviting (they do a good porridge for breakfast there) The bathrooms were plentiful and functional, alas the towel you get is rather thin and small, especially if you are there on a multi-day stay. The rules are comprehensive, though not always followed, especially around noise levels. I was in a lower capsule the first night and the person above did make a lot of noise, resulting in not a lot of sleep happening... One other thing to note is the entry point for the capsule hotel - at the moment there is work being done, so what may eventually be the main entrance is not accessible, hopefully soon - so you need to go down the side of the building, and do not go to the Zedwell Hotel, where they have much larger rooms, but no capsules/cocoons... One other thing to note in you cocoon is that to give you fresh air, there is an extractor fan, above your head, and it is quite noisy... some people who slept with it off, left the end shutter open a bit to get more air. The other thing you will need is a padlock, if you want to leave things in the cocoon whilst you are out, as there is no other secure storage (though you can leave bags with reception) Overall, for the cost, it is a great place to stay, very central and certainly reasonably comfortable... and I will probably stay again - though for the same price, I may well choose a hostel as there is more opportunity to socialise."

"Teething troubles is the theme of this stay. Staff were lovely and friendly. This hotel used to be the Hilton Doubletree so the rooms are Hilton Doubletree standard, but it's just been taken over by AO Hostels. First room was massive with very comfortable bed, but aircon/heating unit was faulty so room was cold. Complained and was given rusty old electric space heater with Hilton branding still on it from last electrician check. Power socket on desk was loose and didn't have a good connection. Couple hours later took the plug out and prongs were very hot and smell of burnt plastic. Shower also took a long time to get to a decent temperature, boiler obviously needed warming up. Complained and they said they'd send out an engineer, don't want to mess with electrics. No engineer came but heater was replaced with new one. Asked for a new room and was moved. New room a big improvement. Working heating. Shower nice and hot. It's only just reopened and was a quick turnaround from the previous owners. Last night posters to say there's a drone team due to survey the hotel so looks like they're looking into issues. Lots of evidence of work being done in the hotel. The hotel has clearly has seen wear and tear, evident all over. Decent WiFi. Free ferry shuttle to the hotel which is a fun novelty, operated by Thames Clippers. Mixed bag this stay, but I hope AO Hostels pull the strings and get the hotel into a better standard, it needs doing but I'd definitely stay again. It'd make a great reasonably priced hotel in a great location."

"The room is located inside the airport, connected to it, and it's a 10-minute walk to Terminal 4, making it a good choice for early morning and late night flights. The Crowne Plaza is right next door; you enter through the same main gate, with one hotel on the left and the other on the right, sharing a few elevators. It seems there's no laundry service; I asked the front desk via the room phone, and they didn't know. The breakfast is simple, English-style, and honestly not very tasty. The room is quite small but very clean. You need to bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste, and slippers."

"I would say that this hotel is near the heart of London. Hyde Park is literally across the street. There are two connecting metro stations nearby and many bus stops as well. The hotel itself is lovely. The staff are friendly, especially Leo. There is a communal kitchen in the basement, you can store food and reheat food as well- it’s really convenient. And if you don’t want to go to a bar, just head downstairs for a night cap!"

"It is a typical 4+ level hotel, modest decoration but does not look old fashion yet. Spacious, clean, bright and tidy room. Everything like desk, TV, mirrors, and bathroom iis surprisingly big in Europe, at this price level. Even the shampoo and body wash are jumbo sized. Tap and shower glass door need some maintenance. Huge basin countertop, good to put everything on. Some adjacent rooms can be connected to create a family room. The staff are polite and friendly."

"Pros: Excellent location, right opposite the castle with a shopping street right outside the door. Cons: 1) The room had a musty smell. 2) The cleanliness was terrible. Service: 3) One staff member was very good, but the others we encountered later were not. They didn't even show us to our room. Our room was in an annex building, and they didn't explain that clearly, so we had to drag our luggage around looking for it for a long time. I was so close to losing my temper. Overall, it's very old, not very clean, and not a premium experience."

"Really enjoyed my stay here. Friendly and helpful staff throughout. The hotel facilities are modern, clean and comfortable. The location is fantastic and I had a wonderful nights sleep. I would happily recommend The Southgate Hotel to all potential guests. It was a stress free and pleasant experience."

"This was our second stay at The Ark Hotel in London, and once again, it exceeded all expectations. The service was absolutely amazing—staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome from the moment we arrived. The entire hotel is spotless, and the rooms are not only clean but incredibly comfortable—the beds are some of the comfiest we’ve ever slept in! We chose to stay here again because it’s conveniently located near the O2 Arena—we were in London to see an artist perform there during our visit, and the hotel made everything so easy and accessible. The location is perfect for exploring the city, and the amenities are top-notch. We especially loved relaxing in the swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna—such a treat to have those available right at the hotel. We were impressed during our first visit, and this second stay just confirmed that The Ark Hotel is a gem. We’ll definitely be staying here again on our next trip to London! Highly recommend!"

"Comfortable, safe, and well-located – a great stay in Croydon We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Croydon during a recent trip to London, and it turned out to be a really solid choice. The location is quite convenient, a 10-minute walk from Croydon station and the area itself felt lively, with lots of food options and shops around. We were two female travellers and felt quite safe exploring the neighbourhood. The hotel itself was well-maintained. Our room was comfortable and quiet, with everything we needed for a short stay. The included breakfast was a nice bonus, there were several good options to choose from, and the staff in the dining area were particularly friendly and attentive, especially during the busy morning rush. Overall, it was a well-rounded experience: clean rooms, a decent breakfast, kind staff, and a location that made getting around pretty easy. Would definitely consider staying here again."

"Although a little far from the centre of London, the short walk to the Ilford station makes up for it. Overall 3 stars match the hotel, but I would overall give it a 4/5 as breakfast was complementary for our entire 3 night stay. They helped with anything we needed, and made us feel comfortable, even the cleaners were helpful. If looking for an affordable stay, this is where I would choose."
