A very good hotel at a great location. 3 min walking from Russell Square underground station. Or bus 14 nearby which can take you to lots of places. Would definitely book this hotel again. Great value for money.

We use Royal National each time we visit London which can be a few times a year, in the beginning for location, (its a 5 min walk from Russell Square tube station, 10 mins from the British museum and 15 mins from Oxford Street) but now for its cleanliness and friendliness of the staff, this time we had a complimentary upgrade into a fresh new updated room, the beds are always comfortable and the room is always extremely clean nothing is a problem for the cleaning team and extras such as tea milk etc is always provided as soon as requested. The onsite pub is also a plus offering meals aswell as an outdoor seating area with large screen tv this time showing the euro matches, it wasnt loud or rowdy and being at the back of the hotel we heard nothing. We will continue to use the hotel for each visit we make to London.

Our stay at strand palace was delightful, thanks to its excellent service and superb location right next to Covent garden. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, especially Siya! Thanks for making us feel welcomed, she is really friendly and approachable, people like her make us want to go back to the same hotel. Her customer service is excellent and superb! She is a gem! The breakfast provided each morning was satisfying! Thanks Siya for making our stay enjoyable! You’re the best!

Pros: Location is good, 5-7mins walk from king cross station and st. Pancras. Easy access to many places. Staff is friendly. Rooms are clean. Safe as you need card to go into the lift to your room. Cons: Luggage storage is chargeable. Water pressure is low thus will need longer time to shower. Room are not sound proof. Door doesn’t have stopper, thus it slams everytime. Definitely recommend to stay!

Well located near Westminster Bridge and the London Eye, easy walking to main tourist areas. Room was very clean, although sofa area a little dark. Full wall windows gave a wonderful view over Waterloo Station and South London towards The Shard. Breakfast Buffet was reasonable, filling, and a good variety of breakfast choices. Altogether a reasonably good hotel.

The morning after our first night my friend and I noticed a bug crawling on one of the beds, we continued our investigation and noticed DOZENS of those crawling all over the twin beds we just spent the night in. We were exhausted the night before after coming back to hotel late and after having shower just jumped straight into beds - who would have thought we weren’t they only ones spending night in those beds! Quick research after our findings and we realised that those were BEDBUGS! Never in my life had I come across anything like this before, not even after being a student and staying at questionable hostels! We reported this to the reception and were offered another room. We didn’t move immediately in the morning and made an agreement that we would move in the evening when we would be back to the hotel. Coming back in the evening and reporting to the reception for a new room, we found one of the evening staff being rude to us and questioning if the bedbugs were from their hotel (like what?!?!?!?). Simple, we said, because we had photo and video evidence of bedbugs crawling all over the beds, we said! This quickly ended her argument with us. We then moved to our new room, where there was no obvious evidence of bedbug infestation, however being a reportedly new room, we found hair all over the floor in the bathroom of that allegedly “cleaned” new room. Unfortunately, being an extremely sensitive to cleanness person and following the events of the previous night, I decided to leave early and not spent another night in this disgusting hotel. My friend, who had a flight early next morning however had no chance and spend a little longer and left at 04am. The evening I decided to leave I started coming out in rash, which had only been getting worse ever since. The intensity of the itch is like nothing I’d ever experienced before - it stops me from sleeping, it drives me absolutely mad, no matter how much I try, one can’t look professional when they have bite marks all over their body, including the face, ears, neck, fingers, hands, forearms - ie areas one can’t cover up - and needing to constantly scratch herself! This obviously has affected my work! And the itch is no better even 6 days later!! In fact, the bite marks are now swollen, causing swelling of my fingers, the scratch marks are now bleeding and I am the most irritated I’ve ever been! Let me emphasise, this is six days later and I genuinely don’t know how much longer I’m yet to suffer! I have obviously filed a complaint and have been contacted by the hotel - they are “kindly” offering to compensate the cost of my medication (as I am now on antihistamines - which don’t work really, as I can’t take the stronger type due to its sedating effect, as I have to continue working and driving; as well as steroid cream) and the cost of my dry cleaning. HOWEVER, despite multiple email exchanges and telephone consultations, they are not planning to refund a 100% of our payment, the argument being

Very good Hostel when travelling through London. Siissi the wonderful manager runs an efficient professional team.of friendly helpful staff. Good hospitality, clean, happy to assist . Spacious with secure lockers in the rooms. Nice atmosphere creative artistic crew . The Astor Hostels I highly recommend for safe secure pleasant stay when travel on a budget for short stays. Due to the rail strikes we decided to travel to London the day before we were due to be having a romantic getaway, I couldnt book an extra night in our hotel because it wasnt available, so I booked 1 night here. On arrival we received an upgrade to the Lily Langtree suite which was a huge surprise as we've never experienced that before , as it was our 25th wedding anniversary it was a wonderful experience. The suite was extraordinarily spacious, with the bathroom being bigger than our living room at home! The four poster bed in a commanding place in the bedroom all looked amazing, however, there were a couple of issues. In the room were two balcony doors, looking out the balcony looked in poor condition, on the right side the balcony doors wouldn't close so you can hear all the noise from the street , i would imagine when its extremely cold this would be rather unpleasant. . The bathroom, although on first look it was superb, we were looking forward to having a bath later, when we got around to it, the water pressure was very very poor, it took 20 mins to just get a couple of inches of water in the bottom of it and it was only luke warm, the shower on the other hand was excellent, hot and great pressure. The breakfast was really nice but the dining room was a little cramped , however, they were busy. The staff we encountered were nice , friendly and very attentive, really enjoyed staying there, however, I wouldnt pay the £500 per night asked for the Lily Langtree suite.

Visit here often for work. The location is fantastic and the staff are always helpful and nice. The staff that work the Starbucks cafe in the lobby Ali, and Goitom always great me with a warm hello and go above and beyond.

Lovely hotel to stay at, would happily go back. When we arrived the staff at reception where helpful and gave us all the information we needed. When arriving at our room I was pleasantly surprised (after reading other reviews) the room was well presented and it's clear that they have been updated, the only thing I would say is that it appears to be missing the final touches. There was aircon, this was noisy but not an issue for myself and my daughter. The room we had was small but functional for what we needed. The bathroom was our only minor issue, when I went into the bathroom upon our arrival it was like a sauna, the bath taps where constantly running (this has been a long standing issue as there are marks from it) and whoever had last been in the room was running hot water so the bathroom was very hot, switched it to cold and the issue resolved. Lovely peaceful street to stay in minimal noise from the road. The breakfast was a strange one for us. When we arrived at breakfast there was toast, cereal, yogurt and pastries that had seen better days. The hot offer was noodles, chicken mini sausages and beans... Tbf the noodles where lovely just not what we expected for breakfast.
