Boutique Hotel H10 Big Sur - Adults Only

Lovely quiet hotel, just a step away from the beach. As soon as I entered we were given drinks & the staff were very attentive. The balcony to the room had a seaview & was great to sit out in the sun. The room was clean & the beds were very comfortable. I'd certainly stay here again & recommend the place to anyone.

I have just returned from hotel Big Sur, we had a lovely stay. All the staff were pleasant and helpful as well as the hotel being clean and well tended. There were issues in the kitchen on arrival but these improved within the day and we found the food offerings satisfying each day. The pool area was well kept with a good size pool and hot tub. This holiday I decided I was going to try out the fitness classes on offer, I choose to do the aqua classes as I love being in the water. These took place twice daily bar two days where the instructor was off. There was a varied offering of classes and I loved trying something new- Pilates, combat and even yoga on a paddle board. Isabella the instructor was lovely, encouraging and I looked forward to her classes each day.

Upon arrival we were given a welcome drink which was very well received and an upgraded room to Sea view which was excellent! The rooms are spacious enough for two with two slightly larger than single beds pushed together and a sofa in the room. The room was clean, we didn’t notice any issues. As we were half board we were given brackets which connect to the tab system - this way, the bar was cashless and you didn’t have to give over your room number. I think this is a great system. The pool doesn’t open until 9:30 which causes a bit of stress getting sun-bed, as there are only a few that are in the sun from this time. It was a little stressful to get one. Breakfast is typical of a half board with lots of selection - pastries, cooked breakfast, cereals, meats and cheese. I opted for the freshly cooked omelet most mornings which I found satisfying. Similarly with the dinner, there are options which are repetitive however the freshly cooked food varies and was always fine. The gym and spa facilities are a little dated. There seems to be missing dumbbells, few attachments for cable machines - so it was a little difficult to get a strength workout in. The floor was slippery too, which made things difficult. There is however, a few different cardio machines. We didn’t use the spa. There are activities in the pool throughout the day, one we tried which was enjoyable - paddle board yoga. It was fun and different. The hotel is in a good location, close to restaurants and bars in Los Cristianos but also not too far away from Playas Las Americas. We went out a few nights and enjoyed the following places and would recommend to others: - Limonella ( Italian restaurant) - Canada’s bar ( great for evening cocktails) - Hard Rock Cafe

Nice hotel in good location. Handy for restaurants and shops. Hotel restaurant serves an interesting and good quality dinner buffet.

Excellent hotel all round. Great location away from the crowds and the onsite entertainment each night was excellent. Definitely go back

Very mixed review. Positives: Hotel was well presented- reception area particularly impressive Bedrooms were a nice size Cleaners were very good in hotel Pool area was good- opened at 9:30 to avoid early sunbed dash. There is still a queue at 9:30 but at max it was around 10 people so not really a rush! Good location- mini golf area opposite and hotel guests get a discount on it, only pay €2 each as opposed to the regular €4 They have a cat at the hotel called Blacky who is very sweet Cons Food was just shocking. We came on the 5th August for 11 nights. First 2 days breakfast was really impressive, live cooks and food was fresh with plenty of options. Then it all stopped. There was no cook and the food options were just minimal. I mean, they put out a bowl of peas for breakfast? Who on earth picks that?!? Then they would leave fried eggs were the live cook station was but there was no heater so it was stone cold. Juice was hit and miss, sometimes the mango juice was perfect, other days it was frothy and weak. Evening meals you were presented with 2 fish options, a chicken option then some mystery meat. Then the regular chips, mash and peas. After 2 meals, we decided to just eat out. If I was to come again- I'd just do breakfast! They did posh around the hotel on our 3rd to last day that there had been issues in the kitchen, hence food issues. Their way of an apology was that we could have a paella and beer for $5. Sorry but that just doesn't cut it for a week of naff food! Drinks were really expensive here, we didn't like the fact that there was no menu up of prices but it was €4.40 a pint. After we found that out we just went to the shop next door and bought cans in for €0.80! Pool entertainment- they have a timetable up which states that everyday except from Thursday and Fridays there are 2 pool activities. This was not followed, most days nothing was on. On the days there was it was only 1 thing. Overall was it a terrible hotel? No. But did it live up to standards and expectations? No. We sadly got unlucky with the food situation, it may be nice but I don't want to risk coming back and being disappointed again.

Arrived at the hotel. Offered a welcome drink which was much appreciated. Our room was not ready. We got there at 11: 30 am . We went to the pool bar and had some drinks and food . Our room was not ready until 2: 30 pm once we got in the room it was. Wow the view was amazing. The room was lovely and clean (411) Breakfast was your traditional hot stuff. And continental. The first 3 days of dinner was amazing. Then they had a problem with the gas. The food went downhill from there. They did not have lunch and have a lunch menu as they couldn't cook anything. They did not even tell anyone that there was a problem. We went into the dining room and walked around! Not much there so a few evenings we would go out for dinner instead of staying at the hotel. Not ideal when you are paying for half board.🙄 I noticed in the day we were leaving they put a sign up by the lift saying that there was a problem with the gas. Now it's all fixed and it would be a paella and pint for €5. That did not help the people who were leaving that day. Would it be nice to have been told when this was an issue? Pool and sun beds you could always get them. You could get to the promenade from the back of the hotel without having to walk all the way around.

Nice Hotel in a good location however the food leaves a lot to be desired!! Generally disorganised, late and cold. No consistancy and the staff seem to ignore any issue. Not worth the money which is unfortunate as it could be so much more. We have stayed at H10 locations previously without complaint be on this occasion we find ourselves eating out.
