Paddler's Lane Retreat

We had a wonderful stay at Paddler’s Lane Retreat! It was our perfect get-a-way — so much more than what we expected. The house is so spacious and comfy — large living room, kitchen, dining and deck areas and a huge yard beautifully landscaped. Included an indoor stone fireplace and an outdoor fire pit. The river is right in your backyard and serenades you day and night along with the birds. The house is an inspiration. Robin has done an incredible job of furnishing the house and bedrooms with amazing wool tapestries, enchanting pottery lamps, beautiful reed baskets and more. And I was able to purchase one of her very own pottery pieces — a keepsake of our wonderful stay. In the morning, we came downstairs for breakfast and found coffee, an assortment of breads, real butter in a “French butter crock," jams (the cherry was awesome), assorted yogurts, fresh fruit and more. The arrangement of coffee cups, plates, utensils, napkins, and breakfast items was picture perfect. And the icing on the cake was Robin and Dan’s hospitality. Dan engaged us with delightful conversations — enjoyed every second — we felt as though we were visiting family. I hope your stay is as enchanting as ours! And the train did not bother us one bit — it added to the magic — my granddaughter watches the video I took of the train rounding the corner at dusk with lights on over and over and over (as well as the video of the bunny rabbit). Thank you Robin and Dan for an awesome vacation!! We are definitely coming back!!

Perfect rest stop for our cycling adventure. Chalet is very clean and has everything you need. Very tranquil location next to the river. The occasional train rolls by, adds to the experience. The owners are great hosts, they go above and beyond. Highly recommend a stay

Awesome, secluded, well-appointed place in a picturesque setting. The hosts were excellent, checking in personally to make sure we had everything we needed. Lots of space for family to spread out and close to hiking and rafting. Highly recommended.

This is our second stay at Paddler's Lane Retreat. It is a charming home away from home with the view and sound of the river running behind the house, and sound of a train (now and then) in the evening which we find relaxing. Well kept and nestled in the woods in close proximity to Falling Water and Ohiopyle State Park. We will definitely return and recommend to all those who love to be a small B&B surrounded by nature.

This place is OK but is not ideal for GAP Trail cyclists. It is "right across the river" from the trail but to get to it you need to ride for more than a mile, including through some traffic. Also the camping area is popular with car campers so you will have people arriving late at night to set up. And finally, the camping area is advertised as "riverside", but it is not close to the river at all. You cannot see the river from the camping area and accessing the river means walking through a muddy jungle stretch.

Lovely, peaceful and quiet (except when the freight trains roll by). Clean, and comfortable. Outside there is deck seating, and seating by the river. A bit scary to get to (one way road with NO place to pull off) and limited restaurants anywhere nearby before high season. But I'd stay again in a minute. Living room was lovely but it was a be-outside evening. Fabulous kitchen. Great breakfast offerings serve-yourself style. We stayed in the second house on the Lane, my sister and I had separate rooms (they ARE small) with in-suite lovely bathrooms. Linens were great. Beds were comfy. We shared the house with another couple who were in the bedroom with a bath on the hall. Lovely, relaxing time. 30 minutes to Fallingwater.

Paddler's Lane is nestled in a lovely corner of Southwestern PA. The grounds were beautiful and well-kept; the house was clean and cozy. It felt homey, warm, and inviting. I chatted with Dan while there, and he was friendly and full of tips about sites to visit while in the area. A little path takes you down to the river. I loved hearing the gurgling river nearby. The train was loud when it went past and the room a bit small, but these aspects in no way ruined an otherwise peaceful experience. I only mention for those who might might be particularly sensitive to loud noises or in need of a room that's larger. I would definitely recommend Paddler's Lane for a quiet getaway and am planning on going back for a camping trip!

A small group of friends stayed here in mid-May and we were really happy with our accommodations, the fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and probably especially how beautiful the location is. Our hosts were very friendly and responsive. 10 out of 10 and would stay here again.
