Lowestoft Hotels with Bars

We came as a group of friends for our last drink of the evening . There were 4 of us ordering Baileys with ice. Service was quick, however, we were not really made to feel very welcome and it seemed an issue to ask for doubles. We were informed that the drinks would have to be served in 2 glasses each, not sure why?! The Baileys looked very light in colour and was very runny, like milk almost! The four of us all looked at each other and said this is watered down! Such a shame as it cost us £7.90 each! We complained to a member of staff who tried to assure us it was genuine Baileys. It definitely wasn't! The waitress tried to convince us that as it was poured from the Baileys bottle it was genuine and that the ice may have caused it to seem watered down! Really?! Please don't insult our intelligence. We were not asking for a refund, merely explaining that we just felt it was watered down. The waitress came across as being quite rude, we said that we drink a lot of Baileys and know a dodgy one! Her response was something like “yes I bet you do”. At that point we mentioned that we would be making a complaint and her response was not to complain to the hotel but to Baileys! Was not going to write a review but after the service and response we received thought it only fair customers should be aware about the bad customer service taking place. We appreciate that the hospitality industry is demanding and it’s difficult to keep everyone happy. We never normally complain but just felt very disappointed and unappreciated as customers of this establishment. We will not be going back!

Stayed here with family on a short break. The rooms were reasonably comfortable and well presented. Our bathroom had recently been modernised, shame there was no extractor fan as this tended to make the room rather damp and the window couldn't be opened, not a complaint, just an observation. Only ate breakfast here which has to be ordered the night before which is unfortunate if you do not fancy what you ordered, however the food was well cooked and nicely presented by helpful and pleasant waiting staff. My only issue is that twice I was informed the hotel bar served until 12.00 midnight but there was no staff on duty from about 10.30. The night porter refused to serve me claiming it was not his job to serve but the bar staff who had gone home, this seems rather odd as on the 2nd evening the bar staff advised me that the night porter on duty would serve at the bar if we wanted another drink. Not sure what the truth is, perhaps management need to sort this out. without this service would have been a 5 not a 4.
