A great experience. Although it is relatively far from the city, the original beauty, comfortable design and facilities are very comfortable. It is not suitable for those who like liveliness and have waiters appearing at all times. It is worth staying in Labang!

The entire pure resort is by the river, with a proper Laotian style and a great environment! The room exceeded my expectations, it was great! I like eating and cooking Western food, and the Western food here is as good as I know it to be! All in all, it was worth a two-night stay!

The location of the hotel is great. It's right by the river. On the other side of the river is the elephant habitat. When you walk out of the hotel, you'll find an area to interact with the elephants. It's very convenient to bathe, ride, and feed the elephants. Little friends can do it every day. I had a close interaction with elephants. The hotel environment is also very good. It is like a garden in itself. The little friends had a lot of fun in it. The room facilities are also great and very local. You can stay here for several days without leaving. The only thing that disappointed me about the hotel was that the person in charge of the front desk was a little dishonest about changing money.

Very happy with easy booking, pleasant , quirky and English fluent guide (Sak?) all the staff was professional and attentive. Feeding and washing elephant (cows) is really unique for Europeans not used to pachyderms. Food was tasty and setting and view top notch. I opted out from e-biking and kayaking as I was the only one and just too hot for me to deal with

Booked an e bike tour through the hotel, was picked up promptly by our guide Lor who was fantastic, this was our first time on ebikes, his English was excellent, he explained everything and had plenty of patience with us throughout our mornings ride, thankfully it was just the two of us, the terrain was tricky in places, but It was lovely to venture into the countryside and Lor stopped at various places to explain and point things out to us. After the trip we enjoyed a superb lunch back at the hotel in the restaurant overlooking the river. The food was delicious, thank you for an enjoyable experience, well worth visiting The hotel looks a great place to stay too.

A beautiful property in a remote location about 1/2 hour from Luang Prabang. We stayed in the accommodations which were lovely. The view on the river was very special. It was quiet and just what we wanted. The staff were top notch, the manager, Fah, went out of her way to help us obtain train tickets to our next destination. She also picked us up from Luang Prabang when we were unable to get taxi back from the night market. We took the 1/2 day tour with Lor on mountain bikes and kayaking. He was a wonderful guide and gave us good information on the local villages. We also fed the elephants which was special treat. I would highly recommend these accommodations and tours.

I took a half day emountain bike this morning with 2 other people. I was super excited having paid $75 for it, had high expectations... The bike itself looked fine, however it could not handle steep hills. I asked another guest on the tour to test it as I was really struggling. He said it had no oomph or power on the steeper hills. He too ended up pushing it which he didnt have to do at all on his bike at any point. The others were motoring through pain free and they were older than me. The guide tested and said it was fine. Of course. The climbs were steep and it was exhausting. We never got to stop for photos or admire the scenery and it felt like an endurance test. We were then taken on a hike to some caves but I couldn't manage it after the exertion of getting there. The guide never checked on me and just let me go down alone. There was a van with three men in it (at this point I didn't know they were going to take my bike to the next village). As a solo traveller my first thought is my safety. Here I am waiting (no phone signal) in the middle of nowhere with these three young men there. The woman in my group observed there was 'bedding in the back'. It was unacceptable. I was then deposited I'm a village somewhere (alone) and waited for the others. Please note I am fit, lift weights and play badminton in a league. I have also played semi professional football. I gave them the opportunity to make it right but as "the guide said it was fine" it clearly was, fine. Breathtaking. I also felt the reply had a degree of judgement in it "difficulties completing the course" like I'm a 39st unit! There are no managers/decision makers on site. A premium price for a basic product- should have just hired a mountain bike for a tenth of the price. I hate giving bad reviews and if it had cost a bit less then I probably wouldn't but I really think people should know they are rolling the dice with this company. Absolute waste of time and money. Lunch was ok. Avoid. I feel so mugged off.

Great get away outside Luang Prabang. This is a boutique place in a fairly remote ( though only 30mins for Liang Prabang ) spot. There is plenty to do. The hotel and grounds are something special. This place is the fruit of a passionate owner, entrepreneur and traveller. His team of staff have been with him on his journey through multiple hospitality and tourism ventures in Liang Prabang, and what you get here is truly boutique and not something easily found. Thanks Markus and Fah.

The owner of Chateau Orientale, Marcus, acted as our guide for the trip and was outstanding. The ebikes were great fun and very easy to use. It was our first time trying them. Our youngest was just 11 and it would be tricky for anyone much younger. Much braking is needed for the downhills and his hands were only just about big enough. The lowest setting on the seat height was about right. Beautiful scenery, fascinating detours to a village, cave and ghost valley. Having already seen Kuang Si waterfall we didn't spend long at the other one on this trip. Delicious meal at the resort afterwards. Truly memorable.

My wife and I had recently spent two wonderful nights at the Chateau Orientale Resort. We’d arranged for transport from Luang Prabang Airport to the hotel, which was one stress removed from finding a taxi. It was a bumpy ride getting to the resort due to construction along the way and it being located in a rural area. Chateau Orientale turned out to be a larger property than I had expected. It occupies quite a sizable land but with only 8 rooms. We had a chalet bungalow with a balcony and looking on the Nam Khan River. The gentle flowing sound of the water, the stillness at night and in the morning are a highlight for me. The room itself is comfortable with a village living vibe. We had two dinners in the resort. The first dinner was average but the second dinner, when we’d decided to order just a fried rice and pork steak turned out to be the best decision. Fah was a great manager at the restaurant. We joined the full day Trekking Tour to the Ghost Cave, which was a solid seven hours of walking to the Ghost Valley. Overall we had a fun time at Chateau Orientale. There are some minor points which I would like to highlight: Firstly there are lots of steps and slopes to manoeuvre in this resort so do take note if you are mobility challenged. Secondly in our bungalow, the bed was positioned very tightly next to the fridge with little space. My leg got cut twice when moving to the mini fridge. My wife suggested that I should have just jumped over the bed to get to the fridge. Thirdly there is no provision to hang your clothes. There is a cardboard in the room but you would have to fold your clothes. I would prefer to hang them especially clothes that you had wore for the day. Lastly the wifi speed was slow.

We chose the Buffalo Hunter tour and it was very good. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to stay at the chateau (it looked beautiful!) but we got collected in their nice van from our hotel, spent the morning with two elephants learning all about them and what they like to eat. After feeding them about 100kgs of banana palm and bananas we followed them to the river for a wash. Had a beautiful lunch at the chateau then packed up the e-bikes onto the road for a ride over the river. The next 3 hours were so much fun! Beautiful scenery, cute little villages, and ended the trip with a refreshing swim in the Tan Sae waterfall with very few others. Our guide was Lor, and he was exceptional. Very knowledgeable and caring, and was very respectful of their two elephants. I highly recommend this trip. Great value for money.
