The Grand Luang Prabang hotel in Luang Prabang was formerly the Xiengkeo Palace, which was once the official residence of Prince Phetsarath, a famous national hero in Luang Prabang. The hotel has a beautiful environment and a strong sense of history. The staff is friendly and there is a shuttle bus to the post office. However, there was a small episode during this stay. We booked a pick-up from the hotel (US$30) but encountered an unreliable car. The thick smoke broke down halfway, which made us very worried. The hotel facilities are a bit old. The equipment is okay, but the towels and bath towels are also relatively old. I hope the store can improve in the future. Chinese food includes shrimp dumplings and barbecued pork buns. It is the same every day. The juice is orange juice (blended) and it is not freshly squeezed. There are three kinds of jam (strawberry, pineapple 🍍, orange 🍊). They are all gelatinous. In short, the quality is very poor.

The staff spoke English well enough that they even interpreted for me when I had a conversation with the locals. The hotel is in a historic building along the Mekong River, so the environment is very good.
