Grand Universe Lucca, Autograph Collection

Great place to stop for lunch with light bites and great choice of drinks. Service was excellent too! We had the meat and cheese platter plus smoked salmon with crème fraiche. Strawberry cheesecake and coffees rounded off a lovely lunch sitting in the sunshine.

Lovely small hotel in a great location in Lucca. We picked Lucca as a visit spot bc there was a Marriott there (we were traveling on points) and BOY are we glad we did. Not only was the hotel great but we just fell in love with the town itself. But the hotel...modern and bright with a lively staff, it served as a wonderful refreshing spot for us to use as we explored Lucca. The rooms were quite small. But they were clean and modern and had everything we would need to be comfortable. Breakfast offered either a small buffet or menu service with healthy bountiful options. Prices were delightfully low at the hotel restaurant. Don't miss the opportunity to borrow bikes from the hotel to ride around the top of the wall. It was a highlight of our whole trip. Seeing Lucca from "above" while in the shade and among Lucca's locals with their children, dogs or families, enjoying their circular circumferential park. Note that bikes are only offered until 6pm which is when the heat finally breaks and you WANT to go back outside (that was a bummer).

This hotel is such a rip off. Very expensive with nothing to show for it. Tiny rooms, air conditioning that doesn’t work oroperly(and we have supposedly been upgraded as Marriott Gold members) no facilities to speak of… just a good location. Save your £££ and stay in one of the many hotels in this neighbourhood

Just got home from 4 fabulous nights at the Grand Universe. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Room was great ( we did upgrade to Vivace room) and cleaned every day. Location on square couldn’t have been better and free bike hire, what’s not to like!

We just finished a five-night stay at the Grand Universe, and it was perfect in every way. Lucca is a charming village east of Florence and having just spend ten days in Florence and Rome, Lucca is the perfect place to unwind. This hotel is centrally situated in the city, and you can be virtually anywhere within the walls with a 15-minute walk. After an initial hiccup with the first room, the hotel management responded in an amazing way. They gladly placed us in another room, which was spectacular. We enjoyed the bar and restaurant, which are beautiful and we so appreciated the welcoming staff. Can't say enough about this hotel and their team. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Hotel was in the best location in Lucca! Beautiful hotel with the charm of a small town. Vanessa at the front desk and the rest of the hotel staff were truly amazing and so welcoming. Cleanliness of the rooms, the beauty of the hotel, the restaurant, location and staff are just a few of the reasons I would 100% recommend this hotel. We will definitely be back!

What a lovely hotel! Beautifully appointed as you arrive. Located in the heart of Lucca. Lovely welcome from Mare, enjoyed an upgraded room overlooking the town square. The restaurant food was Tuscan tasty, well served and great service from Azeera, genuinely interested in us. Breakfast so much to choose, all fresh and well-stocked. The views from the rooftop bar exquisite! A lovely city and to be recommended.
