The property is very old. We stayed in recently remodel rooms but the door keys wouldn’t work for one room and sometimes for the second room, the new AC wasn’t working on one room, a shower handle was broken off, and both rooms were dusty. Also, there is no view of the valley from any room because the young saplings next to the buildings have not been trimmed in 10-12 years. On the plus side, the remodeled bathrooms are very nice (except for the broken shower handle).

All about the location here. You're up in the mountains. View was completely obscured by heavy fog, but not much can be done about that. Restaurant food was nice if not a bit overpriced.

We just stayed for one night in Hazeltop, and the view was absolutely stunning. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom had been remodeled. The walk (through the woods) back to the main office/dining/gift shop took about 5 minutes and was pleasant. There is a large closet, if one had more luggage, and a balcony that offered a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. It cost ~$250 for a weekend night. We enjoyed the Pollack dining, especially the Blackberry ice cream pie, and best of all, there were great hikes that we could access right from the property. The only downsides to me were the price, and it definitely had a "summer camp" vibe, a little musty and woody, but fun and brought back a little nostalgia!

The views and the food are perfect. It was wonderful to stay at a great place and be able to take our dog—lots of great trails and friendly people. We cannot wait to return. Previously, we camped in Big Meadow, and it was wonderful as well. Although we no longer camp, it is great that we can still go back to Skyland or Big Meadow and stay and have an equally great experience.

This is not a great place to stay - wish it was as the scenery along Skyline Drive is beautiful but two nights here was two nights too long! The Resort is spread out and we found ourselves in a cabin at the very end (Winchester - 191) - needed the car to get back to the Restaurant as it was so far away! The wooden steps leading up to the cabin are old and rickety, the lock on the door difficult to operate and the interior - wish I had something positive to say about that but it failed in every aspect; old, worn, antiquated furniture, the bed was extremely ancient and uncomfortable, the bathroom was antiquated and full of bugs - couldn't even bring ourselves to use it. A rickety shed like-door lead onto a wooden balcony. The air-conditioning units were rusty and noisy, the lighting was extremely poor - but maybe that was a blessing in disguise as you couldn't see the decor! These cabins are in need of a serious up-date - and come with the added insult of an exorbitant nightly charge!

The Shenandoah National Park is gorge and being to stay right in the middle of it is so convenient. Skyland Lodge has rooms overlooking the mountains. The rooms are basic and clean. The restaurant at the lodge is convenient and the food is good. It is so nice to be able to have a day of hiking and have our room nearby rather than drive the length of Skyline Drive to a hotel. We would go back.

We had a 2 night reservation at Big Meadows Lodge. Arrived and were told there was no power (not their fault) and they moved our reservation to Skyland resort. They called us 10 minutes before we arrived and due to bad cell service, we never received the change. We drove back to Skyland lodge. They put us in a king room. Dead millipedes all over the floor and very dirty. We drove back to the office. They put us in a suite. A regular and twin bed. Not ideal for a couple. The rugs were very dirty. Bathroom and bed clean. Found spiders in the bed 2nd day. This is more like camping. Very disappointing for the price. The restaurant was the only high point.

At almost $200.00 per night (including taxes), one should expect a clean room and better food options than what is currently offered. The room we stayed in had dirt and dust on the floor and the paint was peeling on the ceiling just outside our room (pictures to follow). In addition, I do not think it is much to ask to employ staff who have enthusiasm about the park and at least basic knowledge of birds and wildlife in the area. Case in point: I asked the front desk employee what birds were occupying the nest just outside the office in the overhang. Her response was simply, "I have no idea". And she made no effort to try and find out. Fortunately, the scenery remains unequaled. The current management company, Delaware North, should be held accountable for the staff's education, work habits, and the lack of cleanliness.
