Evie was a lovely girl very bubbly, and smiley. This is very important to me as i belive staff make a big difference. The food was unreal and came out perfectly great service overall and very fast. Food was all hot which is very impressive aswell due to it being very busy

Met as a family group for lunch having reserved a table for 6 - we were shoved in one corner with a table for 4 alongside a table for 2 that was even the same height. Bar service mixed dependant upon the server. Menu was adequate and after food was ordered, we were advised of 30 minutes wait !! In fact this was actually c15 minutes. When food delivered to the table, the server let chips fall on the floor from one guest's plate but didn't offer to replace. Meals generally acceptable for the price paid.

We were there for lunch with friends, all of us having been several times before (always for lunch), the last visit being Sept 1. Food has always been good and service satisfactory until yesterday.. What a let down! We had booked a table for 1pm why, I don't know, there were plenty of empty tables which remained empty. until we left. Couldn't see/find a member of staff to check-in and waited maybe 10mins to be served to drinks. Food order was placed for 2x gammon with egg) 1 fish/ chips & an omlette. Three meals were served together then we waited and waited 10mins for the omlette plus vinegar to arrive. Gammons were chewy and one was hardly edible - fat & gristle. Fish & chips and omelette were very good. I could go on ... and on. Incidentally, a couple who ordered after us were served before us to a hot meal. Suffice to say Acorn Antiques comes to mind, the decor is dated which even a coat of paint wouldn't improve, but we know this and accept it because the food and service has previously been satisfactory. Staff with the right 'service' attitude would help greatly. Having said that our waitress was pleasant enough. Sadly to say, and based on this experience, we are unlikely to return.

I booked a table for a family Sunday carvery by email and they reserved a table and dressed it up to make us feel special. We had a lovely lunch but more important they were very attentive. The staff made a huge effort with the child in our party and the puppy. Attention to what matters- customer service! Well done to the Shambles!

First time in Lutterworth and looked for somewhere for lunch. Saw The Shambles in a very central location and decided to give it a go. Overall very good. Service professional and friendly, choice on menu fairly varied and food ordered tasty. All in all a good experience

The positives - friendly front of house staff and excellent freshly cooked to order English Breakfast. Rooms were fair value for money at £50 but were nevertheless tired, poorly lit and mattress was uncomfortable (felt the springs). They overlook the outside drinking area so are noisy too. On the positive - shower pressure was good and hot water was plentiful, so fair value for money given the price and that good breakfast was included. Dinner the night before was mediocre boiled unappetising carrots, cauliflower, beans accompanying a small but OK chicken, ham and leek pie.

On arrival, was told that there was a staff shortage - so no breakfast available. Shame that there was no advanced warning. So, Marston's Brewery, you have appointed a pub manager, who is not prepared to put his / her guests first, when all else fails, by cooking the breakfasts him / her self. Where is the commitment to customers ? The room had a non-working en-suite light and non-working TV remote controller. So, how was the en-suite properly pre-cleaned in the dark ? Did anyone check the TV remote between guest lettings ? Did the room service person report the defects ? Did any Manager take any notice ? Upon complaining, we were given another room - this time the bed-side light did not work - so we swapped it for the one in the first room. (Back to the same questions about room defects.) Both rooms have had 'late' modifications, with the addition of small en-suites - which is fine. However, the wash-hand basins - sorry, wash-finger basins - were so small that when cleaning teeth, or especially when trying to wet the face for a shave, excessive quantities of water ended on the bathroom floor. Despite the small size of the en-suites, there is room for larger washbasins. Quite simply, the basins provided are too small to use and clearly not fit for purpose. So (again) Marston Brewery - you are providing accommodation facilities which are not fit for customers. Have you ever checked the accommodation ? Add to this the manager who obviously does not care about customers (as above). The best thing is that customers AVOID THIS ACCOMMODATION - and that Marston's Brewery concentrates solely on running the pub, as it is not addressing accommodation at all seriously. The on-duty bar staff were most helpful, and apologised for the situation. It would be good if Marston Brewery would respond to this critical review . . .
