Casa Grande Portugal

This is a unique experience. A beautiful old Manor House with a really relaxed atmosphere and great breakfast. I would describe it as shabby chic. If you are after air conditioning, bleached bathrooms and concierge service don’t come. But if you want to experience a taste of old Portugal and total relaxation then this is somewhere very special.

Casa Grande has fallen on hard times. We arrived on 5/09/23 to check into the remodeled barn, we’re greeted by guests who were asked by Sally to show us around, and literally ran away after considering the…..something between disheveled camp and wrecking ball ready dwellings. The condition of the renovated barn made my skin crawl. We may sacrifice a few hundred dollars thru the booking company who may not satisfy my request for refund, but please, read the reviews on multiple travel sites, note the dates or age of customer reviews and the time that laps before the “owner” responds. Something is not right!!! If the family of the owner read this, please do a welfare check. The pictures appearing on on-line travel sites and the reality of the property as is are night and day different.

A lovely old house that has definitely seen much better days with worn out carpets, rotting windows and in desperate need of a refurbishment though our bathroom was fine.. Welcoming and helpful Brazilian staff, and a characterful host who arrives to share her tales over breakfast. Parking in grounds, Easy walk to centre and beach.
