Red Roof Plus+ Huntsville - Madison

I would not suggest this hotel.

Due to a series of unfortunate incidents I am temporarily having to do hotel living. I stayed at this location February 2-27 while staying there I had to move rooms three times during my stay. The first time was due to the smoke alarm continuously going off whenever I would take a shower. All their smoke alarms are hard wired in on the wall that shares with the bathroom. Which, the owners manual explicitly tells you not to do because condensation will set off a nuisance alarm. When I changed rooms, I took out all the trash and swept up a little. The room they moved me to was a slightly larger with a different layout. Everything was fine until it rained for three days and black mold appeared on the walls. I told the front desk about this and they still left me in the room for four days after that. I used bleach to clean off the walls but during this time I got sick. I don't know that it was related but four three days I was sick with respiratory issues and still stuck in the room which the black mold came back even worse. The lady that works at night, Melissa, is a total sweetheart and when I told her about it she immediately moved me into a new room. When I moved out of the mold room, I took out all the trash, stripped all the linens off the bed and vacuumed the floor. The room they moved me in that night was the same room type and was actually much nicer than the other rooms. I was in that room for only one day before they contacted me and told me I would have to move rooms because they couldn't rent out the one I was in. So once again I moved rooms, I took out the trash, and swept up the kitty litter that had spilled out by the cat box plus I was in that room for only one night. Now this morning they call me to tell me that I can't extend my stay. Their reasoning is that because I didn't accept room service by keeping the do not disturb sign on that my rooms were left too dirty and housekeeping doesn't want to clean it. This is ridiculous because as I mentioned before I didn't leave trash and I picked up each room before leaving. I don't see the point of accepting room service when I have cleaning supplies and a vacuum here with me and I have a lot of personal possessions in the room. Plus in order for housekeeping to come in and clean I would have to crate my cat and leave with her while they clean. That being said if I had been told my accepting housekeeping was a requirement I would have obliged but nobody told me that. I don't know what kind of a mess I could have left when I vacuumed, removed all trash (except for a bouquet of flowers I forgot in one of the rooms) and stripped all the linens. Maybe that's the reason, because I stripped all the linens including the comforter and piled them on the floor which forced them to actually launder all of the linens. Now as far as the basics go about the shape of the hotel. The rooms need to be updated, two of the rooms had a musty smell to them. I did not see any bugs so that's a plus. It's non

Cockroaches scattered when my wife turned on the bathroom light. Dead bugs were laying on the floor as if the room hadn't been cleaned. The bedding had what appeared to be stains. I wasn't willing to inspect closer. The office chair was broken (maybe just leaning I wasn't curious enough to inspect it). The atmosphere of the building was less than ideal. There were 5 people sitting in car smoking **** when we arrived. Smoke billowed out of the car when they opened the door. It looked like a scene from a movie. Every car in the parking lot was backed into its parking space, which was weird to me. I've never stayed at a Red Roof Inn, technically I still haven't. Is it normal for them to make a copy of your drivers license, credit card, and request vehicle information? We checked out within 15 minutes of checking in.

This place was solid on the basics, clean, good tv reception, reliable WIFI, working iron and ironing board, adequate water pressure, and we got a good night's sleep. The location is excellent for anything you're doing in Huntsville, but offering everything you need nearby in Madison. The bathroom was adequate, but I don't ever recall having a space so small you had to stand betwen the toilet and to shut the door. Thank goodness there was a very generous sink and vanity in the room area. There were a few other things that took away from the stay. We didn't realize the rooms are outside entrance, and you'll hear the neighbors' mortorcycle when they come in at midnight. They advertise coffee available in the lobby, but that was not the case in the afternoon when we arrived or during the morning when we checked out. They were doing business through the night window, and couldn't even access the lobby at 11:00 a.m. Towels were minimal and two small pillows were provided for each queen bed. It's not bad, but although we look for budget-friendly, it wasn't quite a "value". We'll shop around next time we''re in the area, but would not rule out staying here again.

the premiun "upgrade" did not come with upgraded snack basket nor linens and the breakfast area was closed. one of the beds had stained linens. reserved two rooms months prior expecting then to be adjoining and we were 2 floors apart.

My room had been given away amd i needed a handicapped accessible room and was not able to accommodate my reservation i was very disappointed with the service and had to find another hotel to stay in.

The location was great, the hotel needs to be remolded and the receptionist was not nice.

The Thai Elephant restaurant across the street was excellent.
