Comfort Inn Near Great Smoky Mountain National Park

Stayed here with my wife for two nights while hiking in the area. This hotel is standard for most 2.5 star, national chain hotels, in that it is clean and has comfortable bedding (mattress, pillows, and linens). Yet we gave this particular motel higher than average marks in it’s breakfast offerings, it’s front desk service, it’s proximity to plentiful restaurants for lunch/dinner, and it’s landscaping, which includes tables and rockers under shade trees. Value for the dollar is quite good. If we could give it 4.5 stars we would have.

Have spent a few trips to this specific hotel and each time have had a great visit. Our room well supplied and clean. Personel very friendly and helpful at all times. Pool was clean The breakfast has several items to chose from, hot and cold. The coffee was very good. And the location is easy to find and to get in and out of as well. We will be returning next year again!

I will tell you this it is not like what you see on the pictures. However, if you downgrade the pictures to an old motel that's been remodeled a little bit, then you get the picture. However, even though it wasn't like the pictures, it was a good stay. I will say it definitely has cleanliness going for it. I will say it definitely has cost-effectiveness going for it. And I will definitely say customer service is awesome here. I really should give this place average because the pictures are so different from what you actually get. However, they do have a pool and a jacuzzi. It's small but heated and indoor. I believe that Jacuzzi could use some more powerful Jets. It worked okay, but it definitely needed some service. I think the heat could have been just a little better on both the pool and in the jacuzzi. There is a way to almost go fully there indoors. It's to the back of the motel. I thought that was a better way to enter than going straight in. Especially on the colder days. I never woke up in time to eat breakfast. I heard it was a good breakfast, nothing fancy, but from the guest, I talked to average. I had no problem getting extra towels from the maids or other items I needed. I feel all the way around this is a good quality Choice Hotel. However, do not go by the pictures. I think you will be badly disappointed if you expect it to look like those pictures. I'm sure Travelers will include their photos to bring it down a notch. My only complaint is that the mattresses are very hard and the pillows are very small and lumpy and not very supportive. I would suggest that if you like firm pillows, bring your own from home. I would suggest that if you don't like a mattress being very hard, you might want to stay away from this hotel. I actually have a hard mattress on purpose at home, but this mattress is even harder. Maybe since this is a frequented hotel, the mattresses will get broke in and get a little softer. I think another drawback of this hotel is that the doors do not fit well. I heard people walking outside, and it was very noticeable. Walls and floors are very thin here. Overall the very restful place to sleep until the kids get going to breakfast.

I realize that my review is the first negative one for this place. Of course, its also only the 3rd review, so those other 2 must have not had the same room I got. My wife and I usually book a night in Maggie Valley in December, and we booked this place based on its rate. That was a mistake. The outside looks decent enough. Older, but there is a newer section to the left of the older section. When we arrived, we were informed that our room would be $15.00 extra for brining our Yorkie, which doesn't shed, doesn't watch TV, doesn't shower, and leaves no impact on the room whatsoever. Plus, the room we got (Room #3) was not worth the original rate, let alone the extra $15.00. In total, our room was approximately $84.00, which was FAR too much for what we got. I simply do not understand how the management and housekeeping, does not take any more pride in their property than they do. The inside of the room has a floor that is in terrible shape (attached pictures), the noisiest refrigerator on the planet (it gurgled and sounded like someone urinating the entire night), and a mattress that needed replacing long ago (squeaks every time you move). Also, the floor literally sinks in several places when you walk across it. In addition to that, the toilet paper holder in the bathroom was missing. Good news, however...I found it! It was in the cabinet underneath the sink. Seriously, how long does it take to put the toilet paper holder back on the wall? 5 minutes, maybe? The next morning when I stepped outside, I found a deposited mask on the ground in front of our room (not ours, because we didn't wear a mask at the room), and someone had left their hat on the bench right next to our door. How does a hat get missed? My advice is to skip this place, as there are far better options in Maggie Valley. And if you do decide to stay here, make sure you don't get Room #3. If you do get assigned #3, get in your car immediately, and this would be a great time to see how long your car takes to go from 0-60.
