Thames Riviera Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

Kettle was full of dust. No soap or handwash provided and when requested was not supplied. also dead flies all around dining area windows and chairs. Our room above dining area with bay window was constantly noisey with doors opening & shutting and items moved in and out. Even at front door corridor door constantly noisey with door opening/shutting leading to other rooms with other people entering and exiting to downstairs facilities and reception. Dining staff were pleasant and breakfast was nice.

We booked and paid for our stay in advance, but when we arrived at the hotel it was locked, abandoned, unstaffed, and in a state of disrepair. Why did they take our booking in the first place? A passer-by told us it had been closed for about two years.

The carpets on stairs and bedroom and floor in the bathroom were dirty when we arrived. There was no handsome in the bathroom and my sister went down first to get extra teabags and milk sachets, but then again to ask for handsome. The man in reception said he would bring it up. But while we changed into our pj's, watched tv, and waited and waited, no-one brought it up and as we had pj's on didn't want to go down again. There was no phone in the room either, so we couldn't call them. We were on 1st floor. So we used shower gel to wash our hands after going to the toilet that evening and the next morning!! Not hygienic not having handsoap in the bathroom. The windows in the room also had cobwebs and had spiders on the outside dangling down. In the dining hall for breakfast when I pulled my chair out it had a medium size dead spider on it and the second chair had crumbs!! Ewww! I didn't have cutlery and I was going to take from next table which was not occupied and the fork was covered with dried on food!!! I had to go and get new cutlery myself. Then, I saw the patio doors and exit doors next to us were absolutely covered in cobwebs and hundreds of tiny flies in all the top and bottom corners!! The floor below the doors also had loads of tiny flies and bugs walking around. I was so out off by my food and wished we had never come here. But never ever will again even if it was free!! The above account is in no way an exaggeration.

This was a fail. Frequent traveller here. Not necessarily their fault but they are definitely understaffed and inexperienced. Airconditioning was not working even though rooms were advertised with. They didn't recognize their own loyalty program; but didn't allow cancellation either. Went to dinner in the restaurant, only to be told the chef had asked to stop orders as he was flooded. Highly recommend the Thai restauraunt down the road.

This hotel looks nice in the pictures which is misleading. It has been updated, but not professionally, and in a slap dash, no preparation way.

Hard to recommend this hotel. The room was comfortable and clean (very much in the bargain range). The breakfast was poor. We had a special dinner here as well and it was not up to standard (or the cost). The staff try hard but it must be difficult

Originally bed was uncomfortable. However the girl at reception was amazing and gave me another room with a fantastic bed. Great customer service! Nice big TV with lots of apps / channels loaded. Close to the braywick leisure centre where alot of bodybuilding shows are held. So would recommend to athletes competing Lee
