The hotel room was clean, close to the Malaga train station. The only issue is that they charge extra for everything, including, storage of small backpack, early check-in, etc.

It's OK. It's a good value for money hotel in Malaga. If you have a limited budget, you can make do with it. Compared with other cities, the disadvantages are obvious. There are also good hotels, but the price is higher.

The service and kindness were good, the location was good. The facilities were in very good condition. It feels like it's new or almost new.
The problem is the facilities themselves. A tiny room. It doesn't have a wardrobe, it doesn't even have a table to put your suitcase on. The only table it has is foldable, and if you open it, you can hardly get around the bed to get to the window. There is no bedside table. If you want to charge a couple of phones, you have to put one on the floor. They don't change the towels every day. Everything is minimalist: bed, bathroom (the shower is fine) small and with a certain lack of privacy. The sink, or rather microsink, is outside the bathroom next to the entrance door. Because the room doesn't have one, it didn't even have a toilet brush. If it were a very cheap room, it would be fine. But it isn't, without being expensive you expect something more.
In short. For young people who are more or less indifferent to everything and capable of resisting everything, it's fine. I certainly won't go back if it's not out of necessity.
