Ibis Budget Malaga Aeropuerto Avenida Velazquez

So it’s reasonably close to the airport but nevertheless €20 in a taxi which is similar to a cab into central Malaga. Rooms are basic with the usual ibis pod bathroom . Breakfast was better than expected . There’s also coffee, vending machines and a microwave in the reception. Was better than expected but at €110 not exactly budget. The neighbourhood is mainly major highways but there is an Aldi next door.

A comfortable modern hotel, spacious room, and the lift outside my room was the quietest one in all the hotels I have stayed at. Nice big shower, and powerful too. The room had a ceiling fan and AC. Breakfast is not in the hotel but it is a 4 minute walk away in their sister hotel. Breakfast buffet was lovely, with a coffee machine, juices, freshly baked croissants, palmiers, bread, muffins, baguette, meat, hard boiled egg, yogurt, fruit, scrambled egg, beans, frankfurters It is a 15-20 walk to the centre and 7 minutes walk to Málaga María Zambrano train station, which is where I got the train to the airport. The only thing that didnt work very well for me was the wifi, I kept losing connection, I had to stand by the door for better connection or use my phone's data.

We stayed at Hotel California for four nights during a trip to Malaga and we found it to be absolutely perfect. Location is excellent. A 20 or so minute walk to the old town but only a block away from the beach and from where you can stroll to the port area and it's numerous restaurants. The hotel has a really nice family feel. The staff on reception were very welcoming and everybody that served us at breakfast was really lovely. Indeed the breakfast is a real highlight. Croissants, bread, yoghurt, cheese, juice, coffee and homemade cake all served to your table in a really lovely little breakfast room. It was something to look forward to every morning...! The rooms are basic but absolutely fine and very comfortable. To be honest we were barely in it other than to sleep and we found we were able to do that really well. There is a little traffic noise at the front of the building as it is on a relatively busy road but we didn't find it to disturb us. Overall, we thought it was a real gem and great value for money. We hope to return to Malaga and if we do, we will definitely stay at Hotel California.

Overall, I was satisfied, but I found a problem with the door frame when I checked in. I told the front desk and it was finally solved!
Malaga Stop Hostel AB

Stayed here 3 nights and would recommend it if you want to stay in a well-run hostel that's comfortable and where you can get a good night's sleep. Positives are that the hostel is modern, well designed, nice guests and slept really well - the bedding and towels are excellent, plus the bunk beds have curtains which is great for privacy and to block out light. Could be improved if the main showers were not push button but there is another shower available that is not timed. First impressions were that the common area is quite small but it's practical enough and there is enough space to hang out here. Would be nice if free tea and coffee was provided. If you want a good value hostel with nice atmosphere and don't mind walking 10 minutes to the historical center this is a good option.
Hotel Boutique Teatro Romano

Although this hotel advertises as a 2-star, in my opinion it is worth 5 stars. Small rooms, but impaccable in all aspects: good bed, amiable service (Bernardo attentively gave us a bottle of water as we left) and a perfect location. We overlooked a terrace, but the windows effectively blocked the sound. It is very near a taxi stand, which makes it easy to get there and away and within seconds you are in the old cetre of town. There is no breakfast, but it is very easy to get something to eat and eat in the hotellobby. I would advise to have some extra pillows in the cupboard of the room, since it appears there is no staff on call during the evenings/nights.
