The house is small but cozy. The bed is comfortable, the linens are clean, and it was very comfortable. The shared kitchen has everything you need for cooking. The shared showers and toilets are clean. There's a relaxation area with board games, and there's also a separate area with table tennis. The location is excellent—right on the lake, with stunning views! The staff is very welcoming and friendly!

Possum Lodge is a charming, budget-friendly place to stay in Fiordland, perfect for anyone who values scenery, atmosphere, and friendliness over luxury. We stayed in a family cabin and honestly couldn’t believe how well kept and clean it was — absolutely 10/10. The lodge sits right beside the beautiful Lake Manapouri, surrounded by forest and birdsong. It’s a very peaceful setting with easy access to lakeside walks and stunning sunset views.

Possum Lodge Camp site is in a superb location right next to the lake. There are spectacular Mountain views nearby and walking tracks too. We stayed here in our motorhome because it was so close to the real NZ departure wharf for our trip to doubtful sound. The campsite is on the basic side, there are not enough showers or toilets. The facilities are in need of updating and there is no dump site on the premises. It was very relaxed and our host was very helpful, but the site does need updating.

The site was pretty, small with welcoming staff. We travelled as 2 people in a Campervan and stayed 2 nights at Possum lodge. The following day we went to Milford Sound. We were very disappointed with the Campsite. More effort must be made to maintain the services to a suitable standard. The showers were tiny, not particularly clean and in the women's the shower had really low power so the water was almost a trickle and the water did not drain on another shower. The WiFi only worked at reception, our powered site was too small and was on the end and shouldn't have been offered, the BBQ was dirty and hadn't been cleaned and the gas was so low there was no heat. We have stayed at many sites where the standards are so much higher so I would not recommend staying there.
