We stayed at Casa De Maris for our Summer holiday in July. We were super excited to visit this hotel after seeing such fantastic reviews on facebook groups. Upon arriving to the hotel, staff were lovely and helpful. However, as our stay went on it was clear that staff had their favourites. They’d get a lot quicker service when stood at the bar and great drinks made for them, special drinks that weren’t on the menu, just fab presentation and just a friendlier demeanour. It became very clear that these facebook group admins that promote this hotel, are clearly treated very differently to normal people visiting, for example, pictures of the drinks on these facebook groups look excellent, we weren’t once given a drink like that, despite tipping when we got good service. There were a few times I saw cocktails that were blended, with cut up fruit in them, in lovely glasses with colourful straws etc. I’d ask for the same and i’d get it in a tumbler with no effort of presentation whatsoever, which I wouldn’t care about usually but it’s just the difference in treatment, I was also happy to tip for it. But, I don’t think you should have to tip to get what you paid for, the holiday wasn’t cheap and I understand that workers are probably underpaid, however it is their employer’s job to pay them, i will tip when i receive good service. Another example would be that at meal times, the waiters and waitresses would reserve tables and immediately go up to their favourites to chat with them and take their drinks order, whereas we would have to ask for a drink as somebody walked past. Also, sunbeds are impossible to get around the pool, we visited in July and it was clear that beds were being reserved during the night, I heard a few people say that the lifeguards/waiters reserve these when paid to, which is ironic because the hotel has posters everywhere about prohibiting sunbeds being reserved before a certain time. In general though, throughout our stay, the staff weren’t rude and were mainly pleasant, this is just something we noticed. The rooms are nice and spacious, good sized balcony. Bed wasn’t the comfiest though and we were told the room was cleaned daily, with the minibar restocked daily also. The minibar was only restocked once during our 5 night stay and only with two waters and a fizzy drink (didn’t restock everything we’d used). Food throughout the hotel wasn’t the best, we aren’t fussy and didn’t like majority of the food. If you’re a fussy eater, I certainly wouldn’t book this hotel. They also need to increase their selection for people with allergies and dietary requirements. Also, the hotel advertises that they use branded spirits, they certainly do not, at least not with everything. I love Disarrano and their Amaretto ‘Disarrano’ was certainly not Disarrano after being told at the bar that it was. We didn’t really stay for the entertainment on the night time, except for when England played in the euros, the hotel had a screen arou
