My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Alex hotel. Conveniently located near the train and bus station. Our room (702), was large and clean, with newer furniture, carpet, and all the amenities. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and spoke English which was so helpful for us and our limited French. Great experience. The only draw-back was the neighborhood, which was more impoverished. The Alex hotel, courtyard and lounge were such a joy and reprieve for us after our long days touring around M****ille. We intentionally chose the Alex hotel over the Port area hotels, due to the peace and quiet, and it was well worth it.

A gem of a hotel. Well located close to the rail station and a gentle stroll into town and the old port. Rooms and decor modern chic and spacious with tea and coffee facilities. Secure lifts and residents lounge. Lovely breakfasts next to outdoor space and spa. Staff were smashing. Friendly and super helpful … not to mention linguistically talented swapping between different languages assisting guests. I certainly would rate this higher that the three stars given by the local tourist services.  Highly recommended.

We travelled as two couples and as we were travelling by Eurostar, picked the Alex Hotel as it is 2 minutes from the train station.    Our rooms were lovely and it was a 10 minute walk down hill to Vieux Port.   Breakfast was fine but a bit disorganised on Sunday morning (the busiest morning!)   I would highly recommend the hotel and even though the area around seems a bit off putting, we never once felt intimidated.
