Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia

I’ve had this hotel in my radar for a while, it looked classy and elegant. Wanting to escape the dire British summer we booked a quick week here, and I’m happy to report it was as good as I’d hoped. We just had a lead in room on the ground floor which was perfect for our needs (we looked at the upgrades available and didn’t think they were worth the extra). The hotel is spotless, the staff professional and friendly. Food terrific, even bbq night (I hate buffets so was surprised to find that I enjoyed what was on offer! Btw we had lobster one night - heavenly). The clientele is of the mature variety, we are both 60 and felt ‘young’! There’s lots of places to eat nearby, and supermarkets too. If you’re planning a hotel only stay, enjoy great food, don’t mind the rather cheek by jowl pool side, this hotel ticks all your boxes.

Having had the pleasure in visiting the hotel since 2016 at several occasions, the is little or nothing to complain about. In fact, in the last 2 years, we have had the privilege of staying in several 5* hotels, but none of them, have provided us with the level of satisfaction we enjoyed @ the SGHR. For sure, the SGHR is requiring a somewhat higher budget, but the return on investment is simply not comparable. Although the hotel is at the age of 24 years ( if I am not mistaken), it appears like a lady that has matured with the best care one could imagine. Even with a close look, it is difficult to discover any issue of insufficient maintenance. Maintenance is far beyond a 5*. And for the staff, we have met this year some staff that has been there for many years, while also the new staff, are showing that first of all, they have been well selected and trained, because all deliver the same high level of dedication to deliver outstanding service. I know from other resorts, how difficult it is to find new staff, but the SGHR apparently succeeds in finding the best. No real need to endeavor to elaborate related to the quality of the food. From the breakfast to the pool bar lunch area, the superbe dinner selection, the twice a week marvelous BBQ, the quality and selection is fully in line with the overall SGHR experience. My advice to hesitaters: give it a try and you will want to return over and over again. Our deepest appreciation for the entire team, which all of the, contribute to our amazing experience. The Grand Residencia just smashes it at every level, but it is the quality and consistency of the service and its staff that just shines brightly day in, day out. It is also a peaceful and tranquil oasis where we find it easy to relax and enjoy excellent food and wines. Among many other good reasons, it is why we have returned 4 times, and will continue to do so, as with many other guests there. One couple we met, had been there 40 times! Like for them, it has become our home from home.

This review is for the main restaurant of the hotel … though I have stayed previously and can attest to it being a super hotel. A well managed haven of manicured tranquility and old school high standards. The dinner experience was absolutely excellent. Faultless. The setting, on the stunning first floor terrace overlooking the pool is simply divine, the wonderful staff well drilled in the art of attentive, jovial but unobtrusive service. Food was fabulous - really accomplished, flavour packed dishes, prettily presented. The menu offers a la carte or a 4 course menu priced at € 89, though this will undoubtedly come in a tad cheaper for residents on Half Board. The evening was a culinary highlight of my Gran Canaria stay, though I was blessed with good meals generally. Earlier in the week I had called for lunch in the poolside restaurant. On this occasion, food didn’t make a big impression, though the overall experience was lovely. Staff once again were tip top, their service attentive but easy going. The wonderful Jacobi looked after me on this visit, and what a star. The lunch menu offers varied fare from salads through to grills, and whilst it’s an upscale affair, prices in my view, are fair for the environment. My fish main course was nice enough but nothing flash, though other touches made the occasion….such as excellent bread, delicious wines, tasty amuse bouche and a complimentary rum digestif. It’s an idyllic place and I would return again and again.

Visited this year again for the second year in a row(27/6-4/7) this brilliant hotel……..location,architecture,layout,pool area and the dining experience (both breakfast and dinner) absolutely superb in all aspects…….our room was clean(fresh towels daily),spacious and delightfully furnished,no stone is left un turned in providing the guest with an A1 experience by all the staff at the hotel Grand Residencia……..there is an air of peace,calm and tranquility which guests appreciate I am sure….we certainly did!

Spent two wonderful weeks at this hotel as a return guest. The hotel is exceptional, service levels are very high, food away delicious each night and the pool lovely. I did aqua aerobics one day in the spa pool which was enjoyable but I mostly did nothing but relax.
