There are some stays that linger with you for much after you've been there, some for good reasons and some for the bad. This one falls in the latter. It's been over 10 days since we visited Lord's Central and I can tell you we still can't get over the horrific stay we had there and are still reeling from the shock of what we experienced. It's the first time in my life that on a 2 night stay we were praying when the holiday would end and we could get back to the comforts of our home. The big problem there is with the rooms. These people charge today's rates for a room that was probably made in the 80's and is still that way, not upgraded, not improved and no effort made to provide comfort to the customers who put faith in them and come to spend a vacation there after paying a premium for this crappy place. The rooms are in a pathetic and deplorable state, which made us feel cheated and angry. They have no respect or value their customer's comfort is clear from the following. 1. The bedding is so uncomfortable with rough bedsheets and pillow covers that you will never get a sound sleep. We kept waking up in the middle of the night several times bcoz the hard and rough pillow covers and bedsheets rubbing against our faces and bodies kept poking us throughout the night. They don't want to spend money to put soft, comfortable bedding and expect us to bear this torture through the night, hence we were unable to sleep for 2 nights. 2. The blankets were foul smelling and rough and hence we just junked them completely and did not land up using them. They haven't bothered to change it for God knows how long. 3. The old sofas provided to sit and watch tv were infested with bed bugs and unusable. The old and jaded dirty sofa covers were very bad to even look at and it was disappointing to have this bad piece of furniture and not a clean comfortable one. We were of course not able to use it during our entire stay. 4. The wardrobes are broken and unpolished and drawers in a bad shape. It's sad to see the old rotten furniture in such deplorable conditions being provided to customers. There is a difference between vintage and junk. You can't sell junk in the name of heritage. It was just horrific. 5. They have one vintage Videocon ac which only throws air and hardly any cooling. Without a fan you can't stay in the room as the old ac is not enough to cool the room and this in spite of telling their Mumbai booking office that a good ac room was essential as it was hot in Matheran. 6. When you have an enclosed sitting area outside the room for the view, you ought to provide some cooling relief to be able to sit there. The vintage ac which was not enough to cool the room itself could not provide any relief there and a fan is imperative bcoz if you open the main door to the outside then the monkeys enter. So that was another area we could not utilise fully and so the whole purpose of paying a premium for a valley view room was defeated. 7. Who keeps dri

Unlike other hotels, it reserves the feel of a real forest bungalow - no swimming pool, party scene. Food is good, rooms are huge and clean, washrooms are clean.

The overall experience is quite good. Ac is working ok, hot water for the shower in morning and room is clean. One con point is that there is no reception so you have to call the person every time whatever you need and if somehow electricity is gone then no backup for that. Overall good stay in your budget.

Outstanding
We, a family of four members, visited Matheran first week of September,2024. We landed at Mumbai airport and took a cab straight towards Matheran. The trip cost around ₹3000. When we reached the foothills of Matheran, there were some local drivers who operate from the foothills to the top of the hill by their local cabs. They made it mandatory for outside hired cabs to drop their passengers there and travel by their own local cabs. We didn't agree, but had to pay ₹500 as the charges and we we went up to the car park, which is the last car to visit Matheran. There are three ways from Dasturi car park to travel to Matheran. Option 1:- You can walk to Matheran, which is about an hour's walking and the road is well paved. Since the road is uphill and paved with paver blocks, you won't be able to pull your luggage and have to hire porters to carry your luggage. In our case to porters carried our luggage till our hotel and charged ₹900 for four small trolley bags. Option 2:- From Dasturi car park you can walk about 500 m to reach Aman lodge railway station. The train from Aman Lodge leaves about one hour to reach Matheran taking about 20 minutes. Option 3:– There are electric auto rickshaws from Dasturi park each carrying three persons charging ₹35 per person to take you to Matheran railway station. The trick is they don't allow your luggage to be taken with you and you have to take help of the porters as I mentioned in option one. The best choice is option number two, though we could not avail the same as we were very tired after a long journey and didn't want to wait for the train leaving after one hour. Matheran We stayed at Horseland resort which is about 10 minutes uphill from the Matheran railway station. We booked the family room with four beds just in front of the pool. The hotel is average and we paid Rupees10,000 aporox per day for the room and three meals viz, breakfast lunch and dinner. We stayed in room number 102 which is fairly a big room, but the condition of the room needs significant improvement. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed the rainy season with clouds entering our room. We purchased raincoats locally, which are very cheap, disposable, and had a great scroll in Matheran. The place is serene with a beautiful landscape and is ideal for spending a lazy vacation. On the next day, we had a ride in the toy train from Matheran to Aman Lodge and back. The ticket rate for the toy train is ₹55 for the second class and ₹95 for the first class each way. The ride was breathtaking with the train going ***** the narrow tracks passing through lush green trees on both sides and valleys covered with clouds. We spent weekdays in Matheran to avoid weekend rush from people from Mumbai. My suggestions: preferable to avoid weekends in Matheran. cheaper travel option- use train to reach Neral from Dadar in Mumbai, which takes about one and half hours. Take shared cabs from Neral to Dasturi Park and they charge rupees 100 per pe
Very good hotel for overnight stay. Rooms were spacious, clean and hygienic. Landscape is very beautiful and well maintained. Service was prompt and courteous. The Food quality was very high standard and delicious. The resort had evening activities such as games, magic show and music with DJ. Overall very good experience at this hotel. Would highly recommend this particular hotel.
GGuest UserFood was awesome. Location bit away from market. Service could be better. Ambience was awesome. Attended live singing which was good as well.
Adamo is a very good place to stay, it is in main market and you can visit market by walking easily, staff is very kind and polite, food is very good, tasty and many options are there, there are some games for kids as well, few are free while few are chargeable, there are enjoyment events at night like magic show and puppet show.
GGuest UserI have visited with family in Nov 2022. we booked 2 AC Family Room. Rooms Was Big Enough , It was clean , Washroom was clean. Hot water is not 24 Hrs , It’s available between 8.00 Am to 10.00 Am. If you have small children’s than you can face problem because of cold weather and hot water not available 24/7. Lunch & Dinner was good but they have limited variety. They serve both Veg and Non Veg. Breakfast have only 1 or 2 option , either you can opt for egg or any 1 veg item with tea or coffee. Swimming pool is not big and also it was not properly maintained. Location is main concern , it’s far from market. Specifically during night time you might face problem as street lights are not good enough . Overall if you have tight budget and need good place to stay than you can opt for Green hill.
GGuest UserDecent hotel for the price. Good organised rooms and food can be ordered straight to the room. Although services can be improved. There was no hot water at the given time and the bedsheet has a long hair stuck to it which makes me think bedsheets were not changed. We had to use or own sheets we carried *****. Intercom didn't work either
