El hotelito es una preciosa casa/palacio del siglo XVI, con fuertes muros de piedra y una hermosa terraza y jardín. El desayuno excelente y el servicio impecable, súper profesional.

My wife and I had the vegetarian gnocchi dish. It comes with 4 very large gnocchi and a lot of beans. The gnocchi was very unpleasant with a floury doughy texture and we ended up leaving some. The beans were nice enough but a plate of beans for the price of this dish is far from good value. We had a starter (goat cheese ice cream and tomatoes) which was okay, a large glass of wine and coffees. The bill came with 12.5% service already added which made it over £200 for 2 people. I would expect fine dining at the level of a Michelin Star or Bib level for that price and this was nowhere close.

Nice enough room with comfortable four poster bed purchased as part of a promotion however very small bathroom with weak shower. Breakfast was sold in as ‘The Peacock famous breakfast’ charging £33 a head for none residents… we were expecting something exceptional but were left disappointed at packets of mini cereal, tepid coffee, white supermarket sliced bread and food which felt like it had been sat under the heat lamp all morning. The bacon was curled and covered in grease. It was an ok stay generally however I do feel they have delusions of grandeur with their offering. I wouldn’t have been as accommodating had we paid full price!

We loved our stay at the Peacock - so many special things about it, from the incredible history of the building, to its beautiful gardens and Riverside walk. Lovely food with kind attentive touches - tea & shortbread on the terrace made for a very warm welcome. Best of all was the outstanding service - thank you Hilary!

We spent four nights here on a recent holiday, using it as a base for exploring this part of Derbyshire. It was a good choice, but very expensive - our room, which was quite ordinary, cost £295 per night for the first two nights and £360 per night for the Friday and Saturday nights. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on our first and last evenings and the food and service were excellent. The total cost of our four-night stay with two dinners was well over £1700, making it easily the most expensive (but not the best) of the five hotels we used on this trip.

This was a disappointing experience. Having read the glowing reviews we were anticipating a memorable evening. Unfortunately it started badly, pre dinner drinks took an age to arrive. We felt neglected sitting in the lounge with no sign of staff after the initial greeting. The drinks did arrive eventually and we were subsequently taken through to the dining room. It is an oblong room, not particularly large, with a row of tables along each side, it seemed quite dull. There were several couples, but there was a hushed awkwardness, not relaxing at all and not easy to have a conversation over dinner. The atmosphere for us was poor. We found the food ok but not stunning. Perhaps we were expecting too much. We were not expecting it to be cheap but we certainly did not feel we received value for money and to include a 12.5% service charge was totally not merited. We would not return.

The bar was lovely. Really cosy with lots of atmosphere. The dining room however was very different. It’s a long room with tables down each side. There was absolutely no atmosphere and it just felt really cold and not at all welcoming. The staff were friendly but it all felt a bit stilted and unnatural. Luke they were scared to put a foot wrong or show any personality. The food was gorgeous. Really tasty and fresh but the portions were small. We ended up stopping on the way home for a packet of crisps! This would be so much nicer if the staff relaxed and the dining room was rearranged and decorated.
