Sheriff Lodge

As a solo traveller it’s lovely to have a friendly home from home place to stay and Sheriff Lodge delivers - with a touch of luxury too! My room was beautifully set out, lovely decor to give a calm relaxing feel. In the wardrobe there was a complementary box of things you might forget - so handy! The continental breakfast was a real treat - I had put in a request for overnight oats and they were yummy. Thank you so much Ziz for great hospitality - even with your arm in plaster you still delivered the perfect stay. Looking forward to my next visit to Sheriff Lodge in the spring.

Just had a lovely three night stay at Sheriff Lodge which started with a welcome pot of tea and cake. We stayed in The Mousehole which was extremely comfortable and very clean with an enormous bed! The breakfast was delicious and the sitting area is a lovely space to sit and relax. The hotel is very well situated with just a short walk into the centre of Matlock. Will definitely return when in the area again.

We visited Sheriff Lodge for a 2 night stay for my birthday. We were a little early and were able to park our car in one of the spaces provided and walk into the town centre, which is about 10 minutes walk. One thing that I must point out though is that the B&B is up a hill, it was not difficult but just to bear in mind if you have mobility issues. You could always get a taxi. We booked in later and Ziz was very helpful in giving us recommendations of where to eat. We took these on board and had 2 very nice meals, especially the Thai which was delicious. The Mousehole room was lovely and had a bay window looking at the front of the property. The bed was lovely and big and comfy with a lovely big fluffy quilt. There was plenty of wardrobe and drawers space too. The bathroom was a good size with underfloor heating and a walk in shower. The shower was also very good, which is a nice change from some I have used in the past in hotels. There were plenty of towels and bathmats and even a cloth for removing make up, which would have been good, had I not had my own. The breakfast was extremely good with juice, cereal etc and also a good choice of cooked breakfast. The homemade bread was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our break, short as it was and would visit again if we were in the area.

We had a couple of nights at Sheriff Lodge and were most impressed. Ziz seemed to have thought of everything to make one’s stay as comfortable as possible. Really big, comfy bed, everything spotless, even a box in the wardrobe of essentials that you may have forgotten to bring! The breakfast choice was extensive and delicious. Also a lovely garden to sit in. All in all a great stay that we can thoroughly recommend. We hope to return!

STILL the best b and b in the . It is like a home from home. Every facility you could wish for is available and, if it isn't, Ziz (like Captain Picard on Star Trek will "make it so"!!! There is even a bag of bits that you might have forgotten to pack....that, along with the Quality Street chocolates, makes this a cut above the rest. We will return......
