Intro: stayed there for 3 nights. Arriving in Iquitos airport we were picked up by bus and dropped of at Iquitos hotel. Not much to do in Iquitos, not a pretty city as far as I. could see. Next day bus transfer to docks on Amazon river with stop at animal sanctuary (opposite direction of river, educational but also in hopes to get some funds for a facility desperately in need of it like so many others, but I can only applaud the efforts and commitment by the staff towards the animals in their care!!!) trip to lodge: Great impressive boat ride on the Amazon (ca 1hr) to the lodge. Depending on water level of the river (by season) more or less walking to the lodge (50yrds to 400yrds). Cabins: The cabins are very basic, have a bed with its own mosquito net over and some screen around the units openings to keep most wildlife outside the cabin. No more hammocks available as some of the pics would indicate. There is a bathroom with shower and toilet, but no hot water, no potable water, limited light (LED from batter). Cabin has NO AC power. Charging phones and laptops possible in main lodge during morning, noon and evening hours when guests are back at the resort for meal breaks and generator is running to provide AC power. Activities that make the time fly by: lots of activities, one excursion in the morning and one in the afternoon to explore the surrounding nature, wildlife and culture of the local communities. Pests and basic prevention: mosquitos not to much of a problem during my stay except for the one night trip where everyone's flashlights/cameras attracted them in masses. Nevertheless, DEET and Picaridin based repellents are a must. Some cortisone and antiitch cream worth considering Basic extras to bring: Bring a decent flashlight!! Long and short sleeved tops, shoes that can get wet (for muddy conditions the lodge provides rubber boots), some raingear (rainy season until mid June), head cover and sunscreen. Malaria pills recommended, as well as Hep and Yellow fever vaccination (though not necessary but for peace of mind). Bring a water container (500 to 1000ml) for drinking and oral hygiene. The main lodge served as reception area, hangout area before and after trips and meals, eating area, and had some AC outlets for charging your small electronic devices. In the back is the managers desk and behind that the kitchen, darn never stuck my head into the kitchen. While there was a small library with books to read in that common area, it was not the most comfortable place to spend many hours, but is was fine for the short breaks we had. Now if it was not for the excursions and for some reason one had to hang around the area for many hours it was not that comfortable, neither we the cabins that I only used for sleeping and bathroom tasks. The cabins other than the bed just had no facility to crash. On that note, bring plastic bags to store your cloth as at least during the rainy season up into its tail-end the high humid will get cloth
