Great location for Rabat and Mdina. A historical hotel with some great features. It is a one star hotel but punches above its weight. The team are friendly and accommodating and the food and drinks are excellent value for money, as is the accommodation. Highly recommended for the budget conscious traveller looking for a genuine Maltese experience.

There is no elevator. If your luggage is important, it will be difficult to carry it by yourself. Located in the ancient town of Mdina, it is very convenient to go to attractions You can cook, and cooking utensils, seasonings, etc. are provided.

The hotel is located in an unbeatable location in front of the main gate of Mdina and next to Rabat. It is a majestic building with white brick walls and high ceilings. The room has everything you need. The bed is very comfortable and the staff was very friendly. Breakfast is fantastic. Without a doubt 100% recommended.

Excellent location, very good breakfast. Room was accessed through a dining room at the back of the building which seemed a strange layout. Room was large with comfy bed and sofa with coffee table. Very large bathroom with shower over bath. We had an enclosed balcony which was in need of some modernising, it looked very rickety. Quiet room, air con rather loud probably due to age. Kettle and quite a lot of sachets of coffee and 2 uncovered tea bags which was a bit strange. Mini fridge with nothing in it, no milk for hot drinks.

Delicious pasta. Home made and really tasty meals, good value too. We sat in the bar area as we didn’t realise there was a restaurant further into the building, which wouid have been a mixed setting. Really nice meal if you’re really hungry as portion size is generous.

Completely endorse all recent reviews, except for Dreamer60224, who must have been really unlucky. My wife tested the hot water on arrival: it was running cold, but that turned out to because of a block in the system, as the room hadn't been used for a little while. This was put right by the hotel's resident handyman while we had dinner, and we had lovely hot baths afterwards. He and all the rest of the staff and management were friendly and efficient without exception. The breakfast was wonderful, and so was the view from our room (no. 12): green fields were a treat to the eye, coming from England in February.

This Guesthouse is a modernized historical 17th century mansion. There is a hall for gatherings that has a marvelous view, it is decorated with photos of WW2 RAF pilots that stayed at this place. You can see remnants of bullet holes in the lobby area from WW2 era. You will be located just across the entrance of the walled city of Rabat. The guesthouse has a nice restaurant at the front, they offer breakfast in the morning. Also you will find ample space to park your car in front of the restaurant. The rooms are simple but functional, nice bathroom and clean. The beds are comfortable. Nice touch was the chandelier in the room. Staff was very friendly and informative. Wish we could have had more days to stay here.
Response from Property: Dear thanks very much for your review. Marisa

We really enjoyed our stay here. We loved the character full old style, tiled floors etc. quirky shaped rooms, accessed by what felt like the back stairs. A building with a lot of history, built into the walls. We loved the decor and found the rooms to be very clean as well. If you want a square little boxes all the same, then this is maybe not for you! Both rooms were well equipped with Aircon, tea/coffee, complimentary bottles of water, TV and hairdryer. Our beds were very comfy with pillows that we found comfortable. We had a small balcony overlooking the front of the building towards Mdina itself. The is a car park and main road directly in front, but despite this we didn't find it too noisy. The staff that we met were all friendly and also efficient in carrying out their duties. We had a very good plateful at breakfast time, and they had no problem in storing our luggage while we explored the rest of Mdina and Rabat before we left for a late evening plane. We are so grateful to them for this. We would certainly return to stay here when we return to Malta and are very happy to recommend this place to stay.

Tiny, tiny room. Not enough space to open bags on the floor. No hot water in the shower and when we informed the manageress she said "that's unfortunate". Friendly staff in the bar and right beside the gate to Mdina but really poor value.

We booked a room with 2 beds and the Maltese balcony, for 10 nights - it was a WONDERFUL experience - even before we arrived, I had very friendly email contact with Marisa - checking details for my friend who is a bit disabled. Altogether, the room was a delight - beautifully appointed yet very historic, in the golden stonework of the Medina area. The view was wonderful, of the countryside at sunrise and through the day, and peeking down on diners on the terraces below in the evenings! The breakfasts were so generous we skipped lunch! We were blessed with hot weather so the aircon and the shower room were a real plus. But overall, the attentive and friendly staff made our stay unforgettable. Thank you to everyone. Truly felt like a family experience! Loved the local vibe of the front terrace - 'PDV' is well-known and appreciated locally! A treasure.

Location is perfect, right outside the Mdina gates. Rooms are very simple, but clean. Breakfast is also included, with options. I stayed in room 4, which had a view that was worth the nightly rate alone. Don't expect the four seasons, but understand what you are receiving for the price. I would definitely stay here again, and refer this place to friends and family.

Pros: Good Location for sight-seeing and using public transport. Bus Stop is very close to travel to and from Valletta or Airport. Provide two bottles of water everyday in the room. Air conditioning of the room is good. Breakfast has reasonable choice. Staff and management are friendly. Cons: I stayed two days in a room (No 9) which overlooking the busy front of the hotel so if you are light sleeper expect some noise from outside in the midnight. No lifts and the room i stayed in opens through a stair of high steps like it's in the basement but it's actually it's in the first floor. I suppose they tried their best to convert the 17th century building to moderise in to shape the hotel. But needs some filling of minor cracks in the walls of the room( see the photos). Shower is small and it's not accommodate if your are large in frame. The bathroom sink hole is wide open without a plug. No Refrigerator or No Coffee and tea facilities or A kettle in the room. Need to leave the key at the desk when you are going out.
