Punthill Flinders Lane

The room looked nothing like the pictures – it was dark, old, and had a strong, unpleasant smell when we walked in. Even after airing it out with open windows, the smell persisted. It's an older hotel, and when you enter, you're greeted by two single beds. My 180cm-tall husband found them too short to stretch out comfortably. I'm giving it three stars, two of which are definitely for its great location. I originally chose an apartment because I didn't want to eat Western food and hoped to cook, but the facilities and the smell completely put me off from cooking. The location is very convenient; the tram is just a 5-minute walk away, and shopping is easy. Flinders Street Station is less than 10 minutes away, and Chinatown is also about a 10-minute walk. It's also very close to the State Library. Since the hotel's internet was so slow, my kids ended up going to the library to finish their online classes using the public Wi-Fi, and the study atmosphere there was excellent.
