The location of the hotel was a little difficult for us, we had seen that we were almost 2 km from the centre of Nieuwpoort and the nearby tram stop.
Parking at the hotel's site was found to cost €17 per day,€0.80 per hour,we have been wisely thanked for it and put our car along the street ( free)
Nothing was noticeable at the hotel, everything was okay,but it was allowed for the price we paid in the whole season (first half of August)
Breakfast is €18 per person and per day ...but was extended and constantly was filled up everything, only sad that the English breakfast was as good as cold, apparently the heat retention plate does not work well ( ?? )
Drinks are very expensive in the hotel, noticeably more expensive than in the centre of Nieuwpoort.

Sehr schönes Hotel aus den 30iger-Jahren. Freundliches, lösungsorientiertes und zuvorkommendes Personal. Top Lage. Schöne grosse Zimmer. Da Alter des Hotels hat seine Tücken. Zum Teil kann man die schön grossen Fenster nicht öffnen und es ist sehr ringhörig. Wir waren zwei Nächte da und konnten wegen einer grossen Gruppe junger Sportler (es fand ein Fussball-Turnier statt), welche durchgehend Party im Zimmer machten, sehr schlecht schlafen. Das Hotelmanagement hat sich dafür bei uns in aller Form entschuldigt und uns erklärt, dass sie trotz Security-Einsatz die Situation nicht besser in den Griff bekommen konnten. Fazit! Das Hotel empfehlen wir sehr gerne.

The Leopold is an internally stunning hotel, usefully close to the beach and the Kursaal. I realise that the shape of the rooms is dictated by the shape of the building, but mine had some annoying quirks. For example, no soap at the wash basin, so you have to leap across the room into the shower to squeeze some from the wall-mounted dispenser. The towels are in the toilet. There is no flat surface to write on. One of the shelves wastes space by gluing a tissue box in the middle. There are three electric sockets, one halfway up the wall, so there is nowhere to attach the kettle, and two you have to get down on your knees to use. I am too old for that. Sorry to nitpick. The staff are mostly lovely, but if you are on reception and on the phone, at least acknowledge the guest standing in front of you, trying to check in, while you are completing your phone call.

Been to this hotel several times over the past years. They provide consistent service. Good location. Good, friendly and efficient reception. Sometimes there's a queue for check-in (even after online check-in) and check-out (even when opted for fast check-out), as there is no separate desk for members. Nice, clean rooms. Slow elevator :-) And, also consistently (so not a one-time-off), totally overcooked scrambled eggs at breakfast. So, quite a few plusses and also a few points of attention. But I am sure I'll be back.

I stayed at Hotel Astoria with my family in August 2022. This is one of the priciest hotels in De Haan which itself is an expensive city. To start with the hotel does not have a step-free entrance, quite shocking in this day and age so if you are travelling with lots of luggage, have a family with a push-chair (like us) or a wheel-chair user rule out staying here straight away. There are about ten high steps to access the hotel, staff offer no help instead they actually look at you like you are a nuisance. At arrival, the check-in staff tried to charge us for the extra bed in the room without bothering to see the booking so be careful if travelling with a family. We were told we can have a complimentary drink from their bar. When trying to claim this offer the staff makes you feel like you are a freeloader, pure rude behaviour followed by a list of drinks that the offer doesn't cover. Basically you can only have a beer or a soft drink. They say they have parking on premises but it's actually just free off-street parking. On the day of our departure there was a fare in the city center so we had to park our car 2miles away. The staff prefers business from walk-in customers in bar and restaurant over hotel guests. Attitude towards children was specially cold and distant, again making us feel like we are causing them extra work.

Super well placed in a very quiet place and only 800m from the beach (10min walk following a magnificent open street)
Very hearty lunch, we absolutely enjoyed everything.
Very good attendance, so very quiet at night.
Sufficient space and modern room, modern bathroom too, maybe a little too small anyway
Comfortable bed and mattress.
We hear a little outside noise, surely a single glazing window.
In short, if we come back to this magnificent city, we will surely choose this hotel again.
Long live the Ibis chain, a sure value.

4420mirjamk- Smooth and friendly check-in. - excellent and free parking - very spacious and beautiful room - common area with snack and drinks (honesty bar) plus they have an amazing area with darts, table tennis and games. Other hotel guests also hung around there in the evening, which made this a very friendly stay - only downside: we couldnt spontaneously order breakfast anymore as we checked in around 6pm. Also, we didnt have a balcony but only a window with a shield where it bordered on a bigger balcony. Due to the shield, we didnt get much light in the room

We stayed two days in a studio for 5 people. We were 2 adults, one child and one baby. All was okay but I don't imagine 5 adults keep in it. Negative points: - small studio for 5 people, knowing that the double bed is the sofa. - booked in last minute, we had to fight to get the codes. - The hotel welcomes dogs and the corridor is in moquette ... some smells remain! - The threat of withdrawing part of the security if the washing machine is not empty. We have all set up, all cleaned but unfortunately this was not finished. Given the price of the night I find it overpriced. Positive points: - very clean - the little staff we crossed was very sympathetic, laughing and serviceable. - Little balcony - well equipped - Although it was a bed sofa, we have very well sleeped. - Little full of outdoor games. In short, it was a very good stay.
